Vision and mission statement of UPS
The vision statement of UPS states, the company will try to increase their business by focusing on different business processes.
The main business process on which UPS will focus are – supply chain system, distribution system, procurement and other related system Jonker and PetkovicÌ (2011).
UPS will work as per segmentation and differentiation of product and customers. UPS will work on their competitive advantage to increase profit share.
Mission statement of UPS represents their long term strategy. They help in improving productivity and increasing profitability of the company. These strategies also help in sustaining in respective industry.
Competitors of UPS
Main competitor of UPS is Fed Ex. Fed Ex in courier and postal sector is known for their on-time delivery and other services
Broder and Tucker (2012). In comparison of customer coverage and variety of services Fed Ex is better than UPS.
Frequency of changing or revising vision and mission statement
UPS experts after analysing gap analysis change their vision, mission statement and strategies. AS, it will help sustainability process.
As mentioned by Broder and Tucker (2012), vison and mission statement should be changed as per profitability level.
Innovation in their business and reason behind innovation
The new technology adopted by them is radio frequency identification or RFID. UPS innovated their technology support for sustaining in respective industry Broder and Tucker (2012).
The main advantage of RFID tags is they can be scanned from long distance also. In addition to this, it was found that UPS recently implemented RFID chips manufacturing section and G2 microsystem.
Experts of UPS found that bar code reading process of more expensive and time consume. So, they decided to implement new technology in their process. In comparison of bar code
reading and scanning RFID tags take less time in scanning Fay (2011).
SWOT analysis for UPS business
Strength UPS business is expanded in global market. UPS is financially strong in comparison of competitors. UPS is having strong brand image and famous for their good services. Highest market share
Weaknesses of UPS UPS operating line is thin. It affects their business process sometimes.
Opportunities of UPS
Growth in E commerce services and logistics services in global market
Expansion of service in global or international market. Threats of UPS
Hike in fuel prices will affect their logistic department.
Reason behind success of UPS business
The main reason behind UPS business success is their updated and good quality of services.
The strong financial system, global business expansion, effective use of technology and others are reason behind UPS business success.
To run a business company need good relationship with their employees, customers and other stakeholders. UPS always work for their customer and employees.
On the other hand, UPS experts are always analysing their technical and other support system Burmester (2011).
And as per requirement they implement changes in technology and other support system.
