Is it possible to build a four wheeler that will out run most cars and street bikes?
Rebuilding a Yamaha Banshee 350!
Blake Newcomer
About Me
I race dirt bikes in the SORC series. I have always enjoyed the thrill of riding four
wheelers and dirt bikes. For my senior project I was
interested in the engineering of all-terrain vehicles.
My choice of all-terrain vehicle was a 2002 Banshee 350 four-wheeler.
I am hoping to attend Chattahoochee Technical College to study in the First Responder Medical field.
Research Paper
I based my research paper on a wide range of information about the Banshee.
It includes: Different types of mods. Statistics History My research paper mainly just informs
you of the machine I worked on.
Product
My product is a rebuilt Yamaha YFZ 350 Also known as the Yamaha Banshee
Product
I chose this as my Senior Project because I enjoy riding all-terrain vehicles.
I wanted to be prepared to fix them if they break.
I am also interested in All-Terrain Vehicle repair in the future

Project Facilitator
My project facilitator was Kris Walker. I chose him as my project facilitator
because he has been rebuilding and modifying these types of vehicles for 18 years and is very educated in motors.
Problems
Mechanical Problems:
Jetting issues: it wanted to run rich
Electrical problem: voltage regulator did not want to regulate voltage properly Personal Problems:
Time management
Time with my project facilitator
School and Work
Problems Solved By…
Voltage Regulator: The VR is located on the rear of the
frame near the exhaust. Motor bog, and headlight issue. Their was a bad wiring connection at the
VR that needed to be rewired, which fixed the problem.
Problems with Expenses
I was planned to completely redo the Banshee.
Plastics, Frame, Suspension, A-Arms, Fuel Injection.
What I Learned
Diagnose a engine or electrical problem. Set rings and pistons Set transmission gears How to adjust to fuel mixtures
Follow a Future in this Field?
After experiencing all that is implied in rebuilding small engines and building modified engines, I have realized I would like to pursue in small engine engineering.
There is a lot more for me to learn about these machines.
Conclusion
After being involved in this project I would definitely let this be a choice in my future.
All-terrain vehicles have a long future ahead of them.
More and more mods are being invented And better machines are being built What is next for the all-terrain vehicle
world?
Thank you for your time!
