Senior MomentsTeaching seniors computer skills
With BOB
What I want you to get out of this
•The goal is to have you question what you are doing and why.
•Libraries needs creative people who can work on a shoestring.
•If everyone is totally happy with everything I say then I did not do my job today.
I do not want to turn anyone into a teaching zombie
I want you to pick apart these ideas and make them work for you
Who are seniors?
•Traditionally – anyone over 55/65/72.5
•For our purpose today – anyone who is old enough to have not grown up with computers available to interact with and does not have sufficient computer skills
•Working in 1985 or later should have skills ▫(~20 in 1985 so ~45 now)
Why are they special?
•Seniors are a key base of library supporters
•Everyone needs to be Computer Literate
•More and more services are only available online▫IRS.gov▫FLUID
