His mother had pledged to herself that at the time of feeding the baby, she would not be without ablution and she would feed the child in a state of cleanliness and purity.

His mother had also said: “For two years when Abbas was fed by me, I don’t remember ever once feeding him without taking ablution.”

A peaceful environment, a warm embrace and humming full of emotions by this lady, all brought a healthy and suitable environment for Sheikh Abbas’s development.

One of the scholars in Najaf asked him to pray on behalf of his hurting foot, Sheikh Abbas (a.r) replied, "I may have committed sins in the past, so it is possible that my prayer will not be answered. However, I have written numerous narrations of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) with this hand of mine, so I will rub it on your foot, and Insha'Allah you will be cured by the sake of Imam as-Sadiq (peace be upon him)." He rubbed his hand on the other scholar's foot, and the pain vanished immediately!

After a long struggle, Shaikh Abbas (r.a) compiled a book that contained the text of and detailed instructions on supplications (Du'as), salutations (Ziyaraat), and prayers for each day of the year.

He dedicated it to the soul of Pure Lady Fatima Zahra (peace be upon her), saying that with her blessings, the book would become Mafateeh-ul-Jinan (keys of paradise).
