The USA has been fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The wars cost money. 1. How does Congress pay for the war?

Tax Simulation – The Year is 1763
• Roles: King, Parliament, Messenger (in England) 2 tax collectors (in the Colonies-Boston, MA)• Parliament is passing a law called the “Skittles
Act”• Everyone will now get 10 skittles for your hard
work. You represent the Colonists.• You will be taxed by Parliament for items that
you have.• For each item that applies to you, you must pay
1 Skittle.
Buckingham Palace -- London
Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Attention Colonists….
Your Parliament in London has voted.
You will be taxed by Parliament on items you use every day.
You will pay me, the tax collector.
Parliament will use this money to pay for war debt and for the 10,000 British troops who are
protecting you.
For each item you have, you must pay one Skittle.
• Jeans T- Shirt
• Pen/pencil
• Any jewelry item
• Sneakers
