Introduction

We will review in a moment what is expected of your end-of-year project.

There is a very specific timeline which you will soon be given that you must follow to complete the project.

DESCRIBE your country EVALUATE how much advanced technology

(such as robotics or the internet) has changed the societies of your chosen countries (essay on group’s web page)

ENGAGE with other groups through an online discussion forum on group web page

PERSUADE your classmates why they should visit your chosen countries (essays on group’s web page)

“DESCRIBE”

Students will choose 4 different countries from the regions of the world we have studied, one country from a different one country from a different region region of the world.

Southwest Asia and North AfricaEast AsiaSouth and Southeast AsiaEuropeRussia and the Eurasian RepublicsAfrica South of the SaharaNorth America and the CaribbeanSouth America

Each country must include a:

1. Graph: show some type of comparison (literacy rate, life expectancy, income per capita, population, etc)

2. History Timeline: shows information over a period of time

3. Artwork: showcase art created in that region of world (include paintings, music, clothes, architecture, plays/movies).

4. Country Maps: physical and political maps showing distinctive features

“Around the World” Project

When presenting information about each country, students will include:PopulationLanguages (official and spoken)Types of government (past and present)Imports and ExportsHistory of CountryTypes of Artwork (paintings, pictures, music, clothes, architecture, plays/ movies)ReligionLand features (waterways, land formations … etc.)

EXCEPT for images of the country’s artwork, all information on the presentation board needs to be hand-drawn or hand-written.

“EVALUATE”

Students will research online and find evidence to support their answer to the question,

“How much has advanced technology (such as robotics or the internet) changed the societies of your chosen countries?”

“ENGAGE”

Students will publish their essays on the internet via teacher’s website plus respond to other groups’ essays through an online discussion forum.

Groups must read/comment on all groups’ publications AND respond appropriately to each other’s commentaries.

“PERSUADE”

Students will persuade their classmates why they should visit the countries they have selected.

Students may choose to create either of the following:

(a.) A Presentation Board,

(b.) A PowerPoint, or

(c.) A Photo Story

Due Dates
