Activity: Had my very first meeting with my project facilitator. I talked to Mrs. Guyer in further detail about the components of my project to make sure that she wanted to commit to being my facilitator.Commentary: Mrs. Guyer asked me to put together a time log for my senior project so that every stage of my project will be spaced out in an organized manner. She also told me to search online for a generic lesson plan template so I can get an idea of what my lesson plan, or Product may look like.

Activity: I chose a lesson plan template, wrote the biography for my project facilitator, and made the time log that Mrs. Guyer asked for in our first meeting.Commentary: I decided to create the time log by setting up a monthly calendar of September 2011- April 2012. Not only will I use this as a way to keep up with due dates and activities, but also to divide up the stages of my project into different months. For instance, I will observe during October and teach my lesson plan anywhere between late January and early February.Activity: I had my second meeting

Comment/Suggestions:None

I decided not to use the lesson plan template that I found online because Mrs. Guyer pointed out to me that the lesson plan should include EQs. The template that I found did not have them, so we have decided to wait until a later date to make our final decision on the lesson plan.

with Mrs. Guyer today. She proof read my PF biography and Mrs. Markham took our student and PF photo for us.Commentary: My bio met Mrs. Guyer’s expectations. We also planned for the first day that I would observe her teaching to her 6th period Honors World History class.

Activity: I observed Mrs. Guyer’s teaching for the first time.Commentary: In my observation notes, I noted how Mrs. Guyer underlined key vocabulary in the lectures for her students. This made it easier for the students to follow along and take a minimal amount of notes.

Activity: I observed Mrs. Guyer teaching a lecture on Ancient China.Commentary: I noticed that Mrs. Guyer made several references to the textbook or previous lectures that had already been taught. This helped the students to remember key information and kept them from forgetting it. Mrs. Guyer also provided a video for the students, which I will definitely use in my lectures as well!

Activity: For a change, I observed Mrs. Guyer when her students were assigned a Primary Source packet.Commentary: I noted that Mrs. Guyer went through the passages that the students had to read before letting

Mrs. Guyer suggested I observe as much as possible so that I can get an idea of how she runs her classroom. This should make the teaching that I do in the near future much more successful.

The students answered questions posed by Mrs. Guyer during her direct instruction. She also added tidbits and extra info that was not written on the PowerPoint in order to further inform the students. I think all of these techniques will be very helpful when it comes my time to teach! The students were learning, but what I learned was that as a teacher you have to know how to keep a class under control. This is especially true for long lectures because they will lose interest in the topic very quickly if you aren’t effective. There is nothing wrong with letting the students know what is expected of them on the quiz!
