Internet Safety at GHS

● Technology owned by the school can only

be used for school-related purposes.○ No matter where it is located (classroom, Media

Center, computer lab, etc.).

○ Even if you have early out, late arrival, or are on

lunch.

○ Even if you finish your work early.

Using Technology in School

● You cannot download or install anything

on a school computer.

● You cannot connect your own personal

devices to a school computer (phone,

MP3 player, etc.).

● Cyber-bullying could result in disciplinary

action at school.

○ Protect your friends and family.

● How to Be Safe○ Never give out your full name.

■ Use a nickname or username that doesn’t use

part of your name.

● How to Be Safe○ Never give out your password.

■ Even to your best friend.■ Especially if it’s to a website that has your financial

information.○ Make sure your privacy settings are at their highest

level.○ Never post anything that is private or personal.○ Never discuss your schedule or plans.○ Never make threats online.

■ This could get you into legal trouble!

● Always think about what you’re posting!○ Do I want my parents to see this?

○ Do I want my pastor to see this?

○ Do I want my principal or teachers to see this?

○ Do I want the police to see this?

● Employers, recruiters, and coaches check

social media!

● If it’s online, it’s there forever.
