Narration: When forming
the pick-up line, please
merge into one lane
along the entire front of
the school. We ask that
you pull as far forward as
possible as this will help
the car line to move as
quickly as possible. If
your son or daughter
does not realize that you
have arrived to pick
them up or if they are
just taking their own,
sweet, little time getting
to the car; I encourage
you to try this method to
ensure that they move
quickly to your car. Take
your right hand and push
firmly on the center of
your steering wheel. This
will activate your car’s
horn. Keep applying
pressure until your son
or daughter is actually
seated in the car. It is
my experience that you
will only have to use this
method one time in order
to ensure your child
comes promptly to your
car

Description of this scene: Restricted areas for
student pick-up
Screen 8 of 9

Color/Type/Size of Font:

Actual text: Restricted
Areas for Student Pick-Up
Narration: There are
several areas
surrounding JL Mann
High School that are
restricted for student
pick-up. We ask that you
please do not pick-up
students along Fairforest
Way and Ridge Road.
This creates an unsafe
situation where students
are walking in between
cars in the car line. It
also becomes difficult for
those exiting the car line
and the student parking
lot to see oncoming
traffic. We have had
several accidents in the
past that were caused by
drivers exiting these
areas and did not see
oncoming traffic because
of parked cars picking up
students.
We ask that you do not
pick students up in the
student parking lot as we
already have over four
hundred vehicles in this
area. This is probably our
most dangerous area
when school dismisses
Screen size:

and where we place the
greatest emphasis on
safety. We have several
faculty members, an
administrator and our
school resource officer
placed here in the
afternoons to ensure a
safe exit for our
students. The fewer the
cars we have in this
area, the better.
The bus loop is for school
buses only. We have
about five hundred
students who ride buses
and the less traffic we
have in this area the
safer it is for everyone.
The only exception in the
bus area is for parents of
special education
students who may not
enter the bus loop but
may use the bus
driveway to reach the
special education loading
and unloading area.
