HISTORY OF ITCITC was incorporated on Aug 24, 1910 under the name Imperial

Tabacco Company of India limited.In 1925, ITC’s packaging & printing business was set up.In 1970, the company name was changed from Imperial

Tabacco Company to India Tabacco Company.In 1975, the company lunched its Hotel Business which was

named ITC ‘Welcome Group Hotel Chola’ (Now renamed MyFortune).

In 1979, ITC entered to Paperboards Business by promoting ITC Bhadrachalam Paperboards Limited.

In 1985, ITC set up surya tabacco company in Nepal as Nepal and British joint venture.

Continued…in 1990, ITC acquired Tribeni Tissues Limited, And the merged

entity named was Tribeni Tissues Division(TDD).Also in 1990, ITC set up Agri Busines Division for export of

agri-commodities.In 2000, ITC entered to Lifestyle retailing business and

Information Technology business.In 2001, ITC entered into Food Business.In 2002, ITC lunched premium range of note book under the

brand of ‘Paperkraft’ and classmate range of notebook was lunched in 2003.

in 2002, ITC entered into Agarbati & Matches business.In 2005, ITC entered to personal care business.
