For the first question, there were 22 people who answered overall and the majority were female. This could help me with the colour scheme however it will not only be appealable to a girl because I want it to be gender neutral.

With 6 more people preferring realistic videos to unrealistic videos, this gives me opportunity to incorporate different features into it. Referring back to my interview, it tells me that using realistic footage is what people like most so I will include this into my music video.

This question gives me an idea of what to include in a music video with a large majority choosing a storyline as a key feature. I will take the other answers into account because live footage and the artist were included as well as a storyline in the videos I analysed. The written response recommended using a combination of a storyline and live performance which I think is important because it gives a better idea of my target audience. Using these answers can help me appeal to the widest audience with the preferences of incorporating a storyline. The fact that the audience like a storyline strongly supports the ideas I have researched which is usual for an indie genre.

I thought I would include this question in my survey because some music videos are interrupted with speech and background noise and it is interesting to see that a vast majority answered with having just the soundtrack in the video. This would work best as I have found that with the indie genre they don’t include non diegetic sounds as it is more known to pop genres to use this.

All except one person use YouTube as a way to access music videos. This helps for when I design the album advert to include links/logos for social media sites as it is an important way to consume music videos and plays a big part promoting the upcoming videos and albums. The digi-pack could also include online content for where the audience can watch stuff like behind the scenes especially on sites such as YouTube and vevo. This shows me how important YouTube is for music video consumption.

In my interview I asked what features do they like best in their music video and in order to investigate this more I asked specifically what video is their favourite. With the responses I can look into the videos and compare the similarities and differences and use similar conventions in my music video. There are varied genres such as McFly, walk the moon and ABBA, however there were a lot of indie artists like arctic monkeys, Mumford and sons and Kodaline which I have researched and looked at back in the initial stage of my research. I have watched these music videos and found that a lot have storylines which links back to my interview when saying a storyline is a favourite feature.

A lot of the answers are indie related all of which are closely linked in terms of codes and conventions. This means that the music which we are planning on using Is liked by a lot of people especially The Libertines which is the band we are using. Using inspiration from all of these artists, the conventions of their music videos could give us ideas and therefore made to this target audience

This was provided useful with regarding our planning with more people answering with preferring the artist to be in the music video, however a few people don’t like to see them in the music video. In relation to this, it would be difficult to cater to one specific audience but by working around this, so maybe incorporating the acts of what bands do to the actors in the video and similar behaviour.

Album art is for the album which is part of the digi pack. I 5thought I would include this question to see if people relate to the art concerning the artist and if it is more appealing or if they don’t mind.

Asking this question helped think about colour schemes. Although black and white is the most popular, the other three answers are also quite popular. With this in mind, it links back with the album art as it can be any kind due to the even amount of answers.
