Strategies adopted
Program activityRRC Level • -Planning and strategic workshop• -State level Workshop/Symposium • -Training & Workshop for coordinator and SRI promoter (SP)• -Input supply (Weeder) • Regular monitoring and field visit• Booklet on SRI in Local dialects PIOs level • Selection of SRI coordinator • Selection of SRI village • Selection of SRI Promoter in village level• Training for SRI farmers • District level SRI Symposium• Awareness campaign
Constraints
• Timely release of fund is our concern• Bandh, strike, hike in fuel price are directly or
indirectly contributing hindrance to farmers in implementation of project• Shortage of weeders for farmers• Government cooperation is essential to scale up
SRI activities• Low-cost irrigational structures in the valley• Most of the paddy fields are rain fed & traditional
DBI• Slow acceptance of SRI by hill farmers
Impact
o 4142 ben. = 4520 acres directly benefited in term of food enhancement at household level
o Increasing productivity and involving more farmers in SRI & modernization of rice cultivation
o Creating more aware on appropriate eco-friendly agriculture among the farmers especially hill farmers.
o partners are more realistic and scientific in terms of data presentationo Creation of SPs in village levels to sustain the extension of SRI in villages and for
other farmerso Enhance agriculture extension work with state Government, NABARD,
KVK/ICARo Cooperation from Agril.Depto Providing weeder in subsidy from Agriculture Department.o Govt. sanctioned 10 lakhs after having the RNBA/partners initiatives of SRI
Overall Assessment • The upland and rain fed areas need to be focussed to
avoid any discouragement when taking up the system. • Shortage of weeder machine has caused hurdles for
interested SRI farmers.• Concern authority/departments can play major role in
scaling up SRI.• Hill districts farmers are slow in adapting SRI • Majority rice cultivators are facing different pest
attacks.
