Used for 2 reasons – To confirm: You wear glasses, don’t you?

To convince: He will do it, won’t he?

To be and modal verbs

– Subj + verb + complement, (opp) V + SPN?– She is , isn’t she ?– We will , won’t we ?– They can , can’t they?

– EXCEPTION:– I am , aren’t I?– I am , am I not ?

To be and modal verbs – negative

• Subj + neg verb + complement, V + SPN?• She isn’t , is she ?• We won’t , will we ?• They can’t , can they?

• EXCEPTION (contraction with I NOT “to be”:• I’m not am I?

Use contractions and punctuation

• Will not → won’t• could not → couldn’t• had not → hadn’t

• Find a tag on you – a tag in your t-shirt, a tag on your backpack, a tag on your cap.

• Match the suitcase with the tag.
