Gregory McLaney Task 7 Music Magazine Publishers and Audiences I researched into different music magazine circulations to discover some magazines which I could possibly research in to their publishers and audiences. I’d do this so I could get an insight in ideas and possible ways to target my audiences. I searched for ‘music magazine circulation’ and this page came up. I decided due to the fact that I’m aiming at young audiences I’d look at NME even though they target the ‘Indie’ genre and a different style of target audience. My reason for this is that, the magazine ‘Vibe’ has recently gone out of business so I cannot research in to their publisher. (Their audience is still evident for research). So I’m going to research in to NME because their publisher could be vital for a successful producer for my magazine. The below webpage shows the latest news and figures on NME’s circulation. Music Magazine Publishers and AudiencesI researched into different music magazine circulations to discover some magazines which I could possibly research in to their publishers and audiences.

This information is important to keep in mind when producing my magazine. However, the most important information that I need to take from this page is the publisher of NME and this is ‘IPC Media Ltd’. Now I’ve found out this information, I’m going to do further research in to this company.

Research in to publishers and audiences conclusionTo conclude, I believe this section of research has ensured my target audience. Even though I’m not aiming at NME’s target audience it’s still helped me understand audiences and publishers. I’d look in to publishing with a company such as IPC Media Ltd if I was to publish my hip-hop magazine that I’m going to produce. There’s a gap in the magazine market for U.K hip-hop magazines and in my opinion it would be an option for IPC Media Ltd to produce a magazine which would target young audience in these present times.
