The cover image of Alexandra Burke portrays her

as very positive and approachable. This is shown

through her facial expression and the way she is

standing. The eye level shot also bring the reader

to the same level as the image which in turn

makes it more personal and appealing. It’s also

portraying the artist as happy and fun and also

standing very powerful, which relates to the

headline which is stating she was bullied before.

The white clothing she is wearing also connotes

positive vibes as it is a very friendly colour and

not harsh to look at.

Popular boy band JLS are portrayed as attractive

to the target audience of young teenage girls as

they are all standing together with no clothes

on, showing off their muscular bodies which will

appeal to the intended audience. Their facial

expressions all look very stern which makes

them look more mature and serious. Although

this is contrasted by the caption which says “love secrets from JLS” which softens the tone and this

also makes it more appealing to young girls as this is what they are interested in and are willing to

read. The hearts around the image also make them seem more appealing and attractive and by using

sex appeal it is promoting them to their target audience.

The image of the Jonas Brothers makes them look very positive and happy due to their facial

expressions and the way they are standing. Their clothing is also very casual which makes them

seem more appealing and pleasing to teenage girls who are very interested in this band. The heart

and arrow image next to their faces also connotes love which will interest the readers.

The image of One Direction members represents

them as very young and fun due to the fact that

they are all smiling. They also look very

approachable as they are all looking at the

camera and furthermore they have their arms

over each other’s shoulders which connotes

friendship and positivity. The mid shot enables

the reader to see their clothing which is also very

casual and the primary colours make them seem

friendlier and more relatable to the artists. They

also look like they have a very close friendship

which makes them look sociable and again

friendlier.

The image of Justin Bieber is portraying him as rebellious due to many factors, for example his tattoo

and silver chain and bracelet. His black vest top and red trousers also represent him as a

stereotypical ‘bad boy’ as these colours connote danger but also love. The transparent chair is used

instead of a normal chair because it allows the reader to see all of Justin Biebe r and also doesn’t take

any attention away from him. The way he is sitting backwards on the chair with his arm hanging

down again shows how casual he is and how he is attempting to act like a typical teen who is

rebelling. Although, the headline “girls give me a headache” and image on the left hand side of Justin

with a girl (Selena Gomez) smiling which contradict each other.
