ABOUT

The  holis)c  approach  to  educa)on  is  one  that  puts  emphasis  on  preparing  students  for  lifelong  learning  in  which  the  educa)onal  focus  moves  towards  the  life  skills,  a9tudes  and  personal  awareness  that  the  student  will  need  in  an  increasingly  complex  world.

One  of  the  greatest  challenges  facing  educa2on  ins2tu2ons  today  is  the  need  to  develop  highly  educated  and  versa2le  students  who  will  thrive  in  the  21st  century  digital  economy.  Globalisa2on,  changing  demographics  and  technological  advancements  are  some  of  the  key  driving  forces  crea2ng  tectonic  and  disrup2ve  paradigm  shi?s.  Today’s  students  will  have  to  be  prepared  to  face  a  fast-‐pace  and  ever-‐changing  environment  and  seize  the  opportuni2es  brought  about  by  these  forces.  The  knowledge  and  competencies  that  have  become  increasingly  important  in  the  21st  century  underpin  a  reconsidera2on  of  the  holis2c  educa2on  philosophy.                                  The  commitment  to  the  subject  knowledge  of  the  student  is  maintained  but  is  complemented  by  learning  how  to  learn,  the  cri2cal  evalua2on  of  knowledge  gained  and  the  use  of  this  knowledge  in  a  broad  range  of  contexts;  it  is  these  that  represent  the  educa2on  currency  of  the  future.        The  journey  will  be  life-‐long.  It  must  also  be  life-‐wide  and  all  encompassing.    More  than  a  passing  belief  and  neural  connec2ons,  it  must  also  be  life-‐deep  with  purpose,  aItude  and  service.

Taylor’s  HolisOc  EducaOon  Symposium  2016  (THES  2016)  –  Life-‐Long,  Life-‐Wide  and  Life-‐Deep  Learning  -‐  will  bring  together  thought  leaders,  educators  and  prac))oners  from  K-‐12  through  to  ter)ary  educa)on,  as  well  as  industry  leaders  to  share  insights,  ideas,  sustainable  pedagogical  approaches  and  holis)c  educa)on  prac)ces.      THES2016  will  feature  prominent  keynote  speakers  from  around  the  globe.  Some  will  present  challenges,  while  orders  will  orate  a  call  to  change.      THES2016  will  aOract  educators  ,  industry  leaders,  as  well  as  government  personnel  including  policy-‐makers.    It  is  aimed  that  all  par2cipants  will  response  construc2vely  to  learn,  re-‐learn  and  unlearn  to  what  is  useful,  needed  and  purposeful  in  our  communi2es.
