SERVICES PROVIDED: The Valley of the Sun
YMCA is one of the oldest Non-Profit Agencies in the State of Arizona.
The Valley of the Sun YMCA was founded in 1892 and provides services to help individuals prepare for life and embrace a healthier lifestyle by connecting mind, body and spirit.
YMCA offers programs to help all members “learn, grow and thrive.”
COMPARISON OF SERVICES OFFERED BY POPULATION: The services provided to Youth focus on
strengthening one’s character, and building lasting relationships.
The services provided to Teens are focused on who they are and what they can do.
The services provided to Adults are designed to encourage them to live a healthier lifestyles and build relationships.
The services provided to Seniors are designed to keep them healthy in both mind and spirit.
PROGRAMS OFFERED Diabetes Prevention Programs:
12-month, 16 one-hour sessions with a lifestyle coach
Individual and Group Program goals Senior Adults

INDIVIDUAL PROGRAM GOALS. At the YMCA there many programs
available to keep adults active and educated for the world around them. Here are a few and what they try to accomplish.
SILVERSNEAKERS This is a preventative exercise program
that enhances the quality of life for mature adults across the country.
It is senior-focused and one to the largest in the United States.
Co-operation with HCD and HMO’s allows individuals with Medicare to participate at no additional cost.
50 MOVING FORWARD This program is designed for 50 years
and older individuals It allows individuals to learn how to
“juggle the responsibilities at home and possibly at work and in your community, yet perhaps not leaving enough time to focus on yourself”(YMCA Adult Programs)
Lifestyle changes for health benefits and general life well being.
