Uses of Technology

• Instructional games

• Interactive problem solving

• Group sorting for projects or skill level

• Programs that supplement instruction such as Successmaker or Myon reading

• Programs for higher level skills like Accelerated Reader or Geosphere

Uses of Technology

We benefit from the use of technology in many ways.  Students of today use technology for playing games, texting, and chatting through social sites.  Many of them don't understand keyboard functions, how to write a paper, or build charts and graphs.  Technology in classrooms is essential to student success.

Why use Technology?

Children that are visual learners and those that are hands on or tactile learners can greatly benefit from seeing what they need to know in pictures or images

They also can solve problems or manipulate images displayed on interactive white boards

Why Use Technology?

• Technology has been shown to enhance the learning environment in schools

• The important component of successful technology implementation is the teacher knowing how to use it

• There are many types of technology out there for educators to use that are both helpful and are even an added incentive for kids when they finish their work

• Technology is also useful for those that have special needs and require assistance in order to learn successfully

Considerations

• Not all types of technology are available for teachers to readily use; however, there are many that can be downloaded for free and used (provided one has district permission)

• It is important for teachers to continually brush up on their technology skills in order to keep up with an ever changing society

– One needs to understand that these programs are intertwined quite often-there is a relationship between them
