Regional Polytechnic in Northland: Over 330 staff Average 4,400 learners equivalent to 2,750 full time students 7. Learners of all ages from secondary school through to retirement Learning sites range from a large central campus, several satellite campuses, Marae, community halls, local farms and also Ngawha Corrections Facility 8. The first step of the journey was selecting the tools and learning how to use them. The destination was transformational! 11. 1. Increase student motivation, active engagement in learning and improve learning outcomes and achievement. 2. Improve teachers capacity to plan for and meet individual student needs by adapting teaching practice and assessments to accommodate personalized learning enabled by the technology. 3. Test the use of e-books and digital learning resources enabling access and sharing on personal devices and how that can impact on learning outcomes as well as cost of study. 12. Network and LMS readiness Initial App selection and evaluation Server set up to distribute apps in self service model for students iPad profile set up for students with basic technical training instructions 15. Frequent, relevant, and collaborative Initial workshop and weekly sessions December 2012 Play and use in personal life over summer Weekly sessions January June 2013 16. Initial set up and training of self service model First 4 weeks support and training sessions compulsory built into class time, 1 on 1 optional Technical questions and support moved into online forum for the rest of the semester 17. It is not about knowing the tools or how many tools you know how to use. The important things are: having a toolbox full of opportunities to transform learning, and a pedagogical approach supported by a theoretical framework 18.
