Ethical egoism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethical_egoism
Ethical egoism (also called simply egoism) is the normative ethical position that
moral agents ought to do what is in their own self-interest. It differs from
psychological egoism, which claims that people can only act in their self-interest.
Ethical egoism also differs from rational egoism, which holds merely that it is
rational to act in one's self-interest. Contractual egoism acknowledges the
interdependence of self-interests through voluntary, freely-chosen exchanges.
These doctrines may, though, be combined with ethical egoism.
Ethical egoism contrasts with ethical altruism, which holds that moral agents have
an obligation to help and serve others. Egoism and altruism both contrast with
ethical utilitarianism, which holds that a moral agent should treat one's self (also
known as the subject) with no higher regard than one has for others (as egoism
does, by elevating self-interests and "the self" to a status not granted to others),
but that one also should not (as altruism does) sacrifice one's own interests to help
others' interests, so long as one's own interests (i.e. one's own desires or well-
being) are substantially-equivalent to the others' interests and well-being. Egoism,
utilitarianism, and altruism are all forms of consequentialism, but egoism and
altruism contrast with utilitarianism, in that egoism and altruism are both agent-
focused forms of consequentialism (i.e. subject-focused or subjective), but
utilitarianism is called agent-neutral (i.e. objective and impartial) as it does not treat
the subject's (i.e. the self's, i.e. the moral "agent's") own interests as being more or
less important than the interests, desires, or well-being of others.
Ethical egoism does not, however, require moral agents to harm the interests and
well-being of others when making moral deliberation; e.g. what is in an agent's self-
interest may be incidentally detrimental, beneficial, or neutral in its effect on others.
Individualism allows for others' interest and well-being to be disregarded or not, as
long as what is chosen is efficacious in satisfying the self-interest of the agent. Nor
does ethical egoism necessarily entail that, in pursuing self-interest, one ought
2
always to do what one wants to do; e.g. in the long term, the fulfillment of short-
term desires may prove detrimental to the self. Fleeting pleasure, then, takes a
back seat to protracted eudaimonia. In the words of James Rachels, "Ethical
egoism [...] endorses selfishness, but it doesn't endorse foolishness."
Ethical egoism is sometimes the philosophical basis for support of libertarianism or
individualist anarchism, although these can also be based on altruistic motivations.
These are political positions based partly on a belief that individuals should not
coercively prevent others from exercising freedom of action.
Types of ethical egoism
Three different formulations of ethical egoism have been identified: individual,
personal and universal. An individual ethical egoist would hold that all people
should do whatever benefits them; a personal ethical egoist would hold that he or
she should act in his or her own self-interest, but would make no claims about what
anyone else ought to do; a universal ethical egoist would argue that everyone
should act in ways that are in their own interest.
According to Deepak Patidars, a philosophy holding that one should be honest,
just, benevolent etc., because those virtues serve one's self-interest is egoistic;
one holding that one should practice those virtues for reasons other than self-
interest is not egoistic.

personas.
Mexican peso
5
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_peso
The peso (sign: $; code: MXN) is the currency of Mexico. The peso was the first
currency in the world to use the "$" sign, which the United States dollar later
adopted for its own use. The peso is the 12th most traded currency in the world
and by far the most traded currency in Latin America and third most traded in all
the Americas. The current ISO 4217 code for the peso is MXN; prior to the 1993
revaluation, the code MXP was used. The peso is subdivided into 100 centavos,
represented by "¢". The name was originally used in reference to pesos oro (gold
weights) or pesos plata (silver weights). The literal English translation of the
Spanish word peso is weight. As of October 24, 2010, the peso's exchange rate
was 17.21 per Euro and 12.33 per U.S. dollar.
History
First peso
The peso was originally the name of the eight-real coins issued in Mexico by
Spain. These were the so-called Spanish dollars or pieces of eight in wide
circulation in the Americas and Asia from the height of the Spanish Empire until the
early 19th century. After Mexico gained its independence in 1821, the new
government continued the Spanish monetary system of 16 silver reales = 1 gold
escudo, with the peso of 8 reales the largest silver coin. Paper money was also
issued, denominated in pesos.
In 1863, the first issue was made of coins denominated in centavos, worth one
hundredth of the peso. This was followed in 1866 by coins denominated "one
peso". Coins denominated in reales continued to be issued until 1897. In 1905, the
gold content of the peso was reduced by 49.3% but the silver content of the peso
remained initially unchanged (subsidiary coins were debased). However, from
1918 onward, the weight and fineness of all the silver coins declined, until 1977,
when the last silver 100-peso coins were minted.
6
Second peso
Throughout the most of the 20th century, the Mexican peso remained one of the
more stable currencies in Latin America, since the economy did not experience
periods of hyperinflation common to other countries in the region. However, after
the Oil Crisis of the late 1970s, Mexico defaulted on its external debt in 1982, as a
result of which the country suffered a severe case of capital flight and experienced
several years of inflation and devaluation until a government economic strategy
called the "Stability and Economic Growth Pact" (Pacto de estabilidad y
crecimiento económico, PECE) was adopted under President Carlos Salinas. On 1
January 1993, the Bank of Mexico introduced a new currency, the nuevo peso
("new peso", or MXN), written "N$" followed by the numerical amount. One new
peso, or N$1.00, was equal to 1000 of the obsolete MXP pesos.
On January 1, 1996, the modifier nuevo was dropped from the name and new
coins and banknotes – identical in every respect to the 1993 issue, with the
exception of the now absent word "nuevo" – were put into circulation. The ISO
4217 code, however, remained unchanged as MXN.
Thanks to the stability of the Mexican economy and the growth in foreign
investment, the Mexican peso is now among the 15 more traded currency units in
years; since the late 1990s the peso has traded at about 9 to 13 pesos per U.S.
dollar.
International use
Some establishments in border areas of the United States accept pesos as
currency, mainly supermarkets. In 2007, Pizza Patrón, a chain of pizza restaurants
in the southwestern part of the U.S., started to accept the currency which has been
a controversial topic in the United States. Other than U.S., Guatemalan and
Belizean border towns, pesos are generally not accepted as currency outside
Mexico.

Interpretación
Peso mexicano

Fraction (mathematics)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraction_%28mathematics%29
A fraction (from Latin: fractus, "broken") is a number that can represent part of a
whole. The earliest fractions were reciprocals of integers: ancient symbols
representing one part of two, one part of three, one part of four, and so on. A much
later development were the common or "vulgar" fractions which are still used today
(½, ⅝, ¾, etc.) and which consist of a numerator and a denominator, the
numerator representing a number of equal parts and the denominator telling how
many of those parts make up a whole. An example is 3/4, in which the numerator,
3, tells us that the fraction represents 3 equal parts, and the denominator, 4, tells
us that 4 parts make up a whole.
A still later development was the decimal fraction, now called simply a decimal, in
which the denominator is a power of ten, determined by the number of digits to the
right of a decimal separator, the appearance of which (e.g., a period, a raised
period (•), a comma) depends on the locale. Thus for 0.75 the numerator is 75 and
the denominator is 10 to the second power, viz. 100, because there are two digits
to the right of the decimal.
Other uses for fractions are to represent ratios, and to represent division. Thus the
fraction 3/4 is also used to represent the ratio 3:4 (three to four) and the division 3
÷ 4 (three divided by four).
In mathematics, the set of all (vulgar) fractions is called the set of rational numbers,
and is represented by the symbol Q.
Terminology
Historically, any number that did not represent a whole was called a "fraction". The
numbers that we now call "decimals" were originally called "decimal fractions"; the
numbers we now call "fractions" were called "vulgar fractions", the word "vulgar"
meaning "commonplace".
10
The word is also used in related expressions, such as continued fraction and
algebraic fraction.
Writing fractions
A common or vulgar fraction is usually written as a pair of numbers, the top
number called the numerator and the bottom number called the denominator. A
line usually separates the numerator and denominator. If the line is slanting it is
called a solidus or forward slash, for example 3/4. If the line is horizontal, it is
called a vinculum or, informally, a "fraction bar", thus: .
The solidus may be omitted from the slanting style (e.g. ¾) where space is short
and the meaning is obvious from context, for example in road signs in some
countries.
In computer displays and typography, simple fractions are sometimes printed as a
single character, e.g. ½ (one half).
Scientific publishing distinguishes four ways to set fractions, together with
guidelines on use:
case fractions: – these are generally used only for simple fractions;
special fractions: ½ – these are not generally used in formal scientific
publishing, but are used in other contexts;
shilling fractions: 1/2 – so called because this notation was used for pre-
decimal British currency (£sd), as in 2/6 for a half crown, meaning two
shillings and six pence. This setting is particularly recommend for fractions
inline (rather than displayed), to avoid uneven lines, and for fractions within
fractions (complex fractions) or within exponents to increase legibility.
built-up fractions: – while large and legible, these can be disruptive,
particularly for simple fractions, or within complex fractions.

CONCLUSION

Star
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star
A star is a massive, luminous ball of plasma held together by gravity. At the end of
its lifetime, a star can also contain a proportion of degenerate matter. The nearest
star to Earth is the Sun, which is the source of most of the energy on Earth. Other
stars are visible from Earth during the night when they are not outshone by the Sun
or blocked by atmospheric phenomena. Historically, the most prominent stars on
the celestial sphere were grouped together into constellations and asterisms, and
the brightest stars gained proper names. Extensive catalogues of stars have been
assembled by astronomers, which provide standardized star designations.
For at least a portion of its life, a star shines due to thermonuclear fusion of
hydrogen in its core releasing energy that traverses the star's interior and then
radiates into outer space. Almost all naturally occurring elements heavier than
helium were created by stars, either via stellar nucleosynthesis during their
lifetimes or by supernova nucleosynthesis when stars explode. Astronomers can
determine the mass, age, chemical composition and many other properties of a
star by observing its spectrum, luminosity and motion through space. The total
mass of a star is the principal determinant in its evolution and eventual fate. Other
characteristics of a star are determined by its evolutionary history, including
diameter, rotation, movement and temperature.
A star begins as a collapsing cloud of material composed primarily of hydrogen,
along with helium and trace amounts of heavier elements. Once the stellar core is
sufficiently dense, some of the hydrogen is steadily converted into helium through
the process of nuclear fusion. The remainder of the star's interior carries energy
away from the core through a combination of radiative and convective processes.
The star's internal pressure prevents it from collapsing further under its own
gravity. Once the hydrogen fuel at the core is exhausted, those stars having at
least 0.4 times the mass of the Sun expand to become a red giant, in some cases
fusing heavier elements at the core or in shells around the core.
14
Binary and multi-star systems consist of two or more stars that are gravitationally
bound, and generally move around each other in stable orbits. When two such
stars have a relatively close orbit, their gravitational interaction can have a
significant impact on their evolution. Stars can form part of a much larger
gravitationally bound structure, such as a cluster or a galaxy.
Variable stars
Variable stars have periodic or random changes in luminosity because of intrinsic
or extrinsic properties. Of the intrinsically variable stars, the primary types can be
subdivided into three principal groups.
During their stellar evolution, some stars pass through phases where they can
become pulsating variables. Pulsating variable stars vary in radius and luminosity
over time, expanding and contracting with periods ranging from minutes to years,
depending on the size of the star. This category includes Cepheid and cepheid-like
stars, and long-period variables such as Mira.
Eruptive variables are stars that experience sudden increases in luminosity
because of flares or mass ejection events. This group includes protostars, Wolf-
Rayet stars, and Flare stars, as well as giant and supergiant stars.
Cataclysmic or explosive variables undergo a dramatic change in their properties.
This group includes novae and supernovae. A binary star system that includes a
nearby white dwarf can produce certain types of these spectacular stellar
explosions, including the nova and a Type 1a supernova. The explosion is created
when the white dwarf accretes hydrogen from the companion star, building up
mass until the hydrogen undergoes fusion. Some novae are also recurrent, having
periodic outbursts of moderate amplitude. Stars can also vary in luminosity
because of extrinsic factors, such as eclipsing binaries, as well as rotating stars
that produce extreme starspots. A notable example of an eclipsing binary is Algol,
which regularly varies in magnitude from 2.3 to 3.5 over a period of 2.87 days.

Interpretación
Estrella
CONCLUSION

“The Immigrants”
http://www.cuentoseningles.com.ar/shortstories/latinamerican/TheImmigrants.html
The man and the woman had been walking since 4 am. The weather was
becoming into a suffocating calm, like the one that comes before a storm, and the
nitrous steam of the estuary made it even muggier. The rain finally came down.
During an hour the couple, that was wet to the bones, went forward obstinately.
The rain stopped. The man and the woman watched to each other with a
desperate anxiety.
“Can you go on?" He asked. "Maybe we can get them…”
The woman shook her head. She had deep bags under her eyes and looked livid.
“Let’s go on.” She said keeping on walking.
But she stopped pretty soon, and contorted with pain she caught a branch to help
her stay stand. The man was going ahead, and returned to her when he heard a
groan.
“I can't go on anymore…!” She muttered. She was sweaty and her mouth was
strained. “Oh, my God...!”
The man watched around long enough and realized that he could not do anything.
His wife was pregnant. So, without knowing where he was stepping on, perplexed
by the situation, he cut branches, put them on the floor and lay his wife over
them… He sat and put her head over his legs.
Fifteen minutes passed on silence. Then, the woman shuddered uncontrollably
forcing the man to use all his strength to hold the woman’s body which was moving
violently because of the eclampsia.
When the seizure stopped, he remained a little more over her, keeping her arms on
the floor with his knees. Finally, the man stood up and walked some steps aside,
18
he socked his forehead, and returned to her, putting the woman’s head over his
legs. She was immersed in a deep sopor.
Then came another seizure and the woman became inert. Soon, there was
another, but when this one came to an end, her life ended too.
The man noticed it when he was astride his wife, using all his strength to hold the
convulsion shakes. He was terrified; his eyes were fixed on the bloody foam that
was coming from her mouth.
Without knowing what to do, he touched her jaw with a finger.
“Charlotte!” He spoke with a voice that seemed not to be his and with no intonation
at all. The sound of his voice made him recover conscious; he sat up then and
looked all around with crazy eyes.
"It’s too much fatality” He murmured. “It’s too much fatality…” He murmured again,
making an effort to understand what have happened. They were coming from
Europe. There is no doubt about that. They had left their two-year old first-born
there. His wife was pregnant, and both of them were going to Makallé with other
partners. They were delayed and alone because she could not walk well. She was
in a bad condition. His wife could have been in danger…
Suddenly, he turned around, berserked with grief: “She is dead, there!” He said.
He sat down again, and put the head of his dead wife on his legs. In the next four
hours he thought what to do.
He remained without knowing what to do; but when the noon was coming he
carried his wife on his shoulders and returned the way back.
They passed by the border of the estuary again. The pajonal looked endless in the
silver and immobile night, where the buzz of mosquitoes could only be heard. The
man, with his nape bent, walked steadily until the body of his wife fell sharply. He
stood up a moment, he was rigid, and then he fell down after her.
19
When he woke up the sun was burning. He ate fruits from the tree philodendron
though he wished something more nutritive to eat because he had to walk several
days until getting the dead body of his wife in holy ground.
He took the body again, but his strength was decreasing. He made a bundle with
the body by knotting together lianas which made easier to walk.
During three days he walked and walked like a sleepwalker poisoned by the
cadaverous miasmas. He just rested a little, and kept on walking under the white
hot sky and devoured by insects during nights. His mission was only one obstinate
idea; take the body of his adored wife from the savage and hostile country.
The fourth day he was forced to stop and in the afternoon he could hardly continue.
When the sun was sinking he felt a deep shiver on his exhausted nerves; he put
the body on the ground and sat down next to it.
The night had come, and the monotonous buzz of mosquitoes invaded the air. He
could have felt the insects all over his face but the constant shivers on his frozen
marrow did not let him.
Finally, the ochre waning moon came up behind the estuary. The high and rigid
straws shone until the horizon like a mournful yellowish sea. Now, the pernicious
fever rose rapidly.
The man glanced to the horrible whitish mass that was lying next to him. While he
was crossing his hands over the knees he stayed with his eyes fixed ahead, to the
poisoned estuary. In the distance, the delirium drew the village of Silesia, where he
and his wife, Charlotte Phoening, were returning to -happy and rich- to get their
loved first-born child.

Cuento
no pudo sobrevivir.

World economy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_economy
The world- or global economy generally refers to the economy, which is based
on economies of all of the world's countries, national economies. Also global
economy can be seen as the economy of global society and national economies –
as economies of local societies, making the global one. It can be evaluated in
various kind of ways. For instance, depending on the model used, the valuation
that is arrived at can be represented in a certain currency, such as 2006 US
dollars.
The World Economy is a vital resource for researchers, analysts and policy-
advisors interested in trade policy and other open economy issues embracing
international trade and the environment, international finance, and trade and
development. The journal also considers related areas such as economies in
transition and development economics, making The World Economy an essential
reference for in-depth knowledge on and up-to-date coverage of international
economic relations.
Whilst The World Economy concentrates on trade policy issues - on a country
basis, regionally and globally - it also covers broader issues such as exchange
rates, IMF/World Bank, debt, environmental and other international issues as they
relate to trade.
It is inseparable from the geography and ecology of Earth, and is therefore
somewhat of a misnomer, since, while definitions and representations of the "world
economy" vary widely, they must at a minimum exclude any consideration of
resources or value based outside of the Earth. For example, while attempts could
be made to calculate the value of currently unexploited mining opportunities in
unclaimed territory in Antarctica, the same opportunities on Mars would not be
considered a part of the world economy—even if currently exploited in some way—
23
and could be considered of latent value only in the same way as uncreated
intellectual property, such as a previously unconceived invention.
Beyond the minimum standard of concerning value in production, use, and
exchange on the planet Earth, definitions, representations, models, and valuations
of the world economy vary widely.
It is common to limit questions of the world economy exclusively to human
economic activity, and the world economy is typically judged in monetary terms,
even in cases in which there is no efficient market to help valuate certain goods or
services, or in cases in which a lack of independent research or government
cooperation makes establishing figures difficult. Typical examples are illegal drugs
and other black market goods, which by any standard are a part of the world
economy, but for which there is by definition no legal market of any kind.
However, even in cases in which there is a clear and efficient market to establish a
monetary value, economists do not typically use the current or official exchange
rate to translate the monetary units of this market into a single unit for the world
economy, since exchange rates typically do not closely reflect worldwide value, for
example in cases where the volume or price of transactions is closely regulated by
the government.
Rather, market valuations in a local currency are typically translated to a single
monetary unit using the idea of purchasing power. This is the method used below,
which is used for estimating worldwide economic activity in terms of real US
dollars. However, the world economy can be evaluated and expressed in many
more ways. It is unclear, for example, how many of the world's 6.8 billion people
have most of their economic activity reflected in these valuations.

Mathematics
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematics
Mathematics is the study of quantity, structure, space, and change.
Mathematicians seek out patterns, and formulate new conjectures. Mathematicians
resolve the truth or falsity of conjectures by mathematical proofs, which are
arguments sufficient to convince other mathematicians of their validity. The
research required to solve mathematical problems can take years or even
centuries of sustained inquiry. However, mathematical proofs are less formal and
painstaking than proofs in mathematical logic. Since the pioneering work of
Giuseppe Peano, David Hilbert, and others on axiomatic systems in the late 1800s,
it has become customary to view mathematical research as establishing truth by
rigorous deduction from appropriately chosen axioms and definitions. When those
mathematical structures are good models of real phenomena, then mathematical
reasoning often provides insight or predictions.
Through the use of abstraction and logical reasoning, mathematics evolved from
counting, calculation, measurement, and the systematic study of the shapes and
motions of physical objects. Practical mathematics has been a human activity for
as far back as written records exist. Rigorous arguments first appeared in Greek
mathematics, most notably in Euclid's Elements. Mathematics continued to
develop, for example in China in 300 BC, in India in AD 100, and in the Muslim
world in AD 800, until the Renaissance, when mathematical innovations interacting
with new scientific discoveries led to a rapid increase in the rate of mathematical
discovery that continues to the present day.
The mathematician Benjamin Peirce called mathematics "the science that draws
necessary conclusions". David Hilbert defined mathematics as follows: We are not
speaking here of arbitrariness in any sense. Mathematics is not like a game whose
tasks are determined by arbitrarily stipulated rules. Rather, it is a conceptual
system possessing internal necessity that can only be so and by no means
otherwise. Albert Einstein stated that "as far as the laws of mathematics refer to
27
reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to
reality."
Mathematics is used throughout the world as an essential tool in many fields,
including natural science, engineering, medicine, and the social sciences. Applied
mathematics, the branch of mathematics concerned with application of
mathematical knowledge to other fields, inspires and makes use of new
mathematical discoveries and sometimes leads to the development of entirely new
mathematical disciplines, such as statistics and game theory. Mathematicians also
engage in pure mathematics, or mathematics for its own sake, without having any
application in mind, although practical applications for what began as pure
mathematics are often discovered.
Etymology
The word "mathematics" comes from the Greek μάθημα (máthēma), which means
learning, study, science, and additionally came to have the narrower and more
technical meaning "mathematical study", even in Classical times. Its adjective is
μαθηματικός (mathēmatikós), meaning related to learning or studious, which
likewise further came to mean mathematical. In particular, μαθηματικὴ τέχνη
(mathēmatikḗ tékhnē), Latin: ars mathematica, meant the mathematical art.
The apparent plural form in English, like the French plural form les mathématiques
(and the less commonly used singular derivative la mathématique), goes back to
the Latin neuter plural mathematica (Cicero), based on the Greek plural τα
μαθηματικά (ta mathēmatiká), used by Aristotle, and meaning roughly "all things
mathematical"; although it is plausible that English borrowed only the adjective
mathematic(al) and formed the noun mathematics anew, after the pattern of
physics and metaphysics, which were inherited from the Greek. In English, the
noun mathematics takes singular verb forms. It is often shortened to maths or, in
English-speaking North America, math.
Mathematics can, broadly speaking, be subdivided into the study of quantity,
structure, space, and change (i.e. arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and analysis). In
28
addition to these main concerns, there are also subdivisions dedicated to exploring
links from the heart of mathematics to other fields: to logic, to set theory
(foundations), to the empirical mathematics of the various sciences (applied
mathematics), and more recently to the rigorous study of uncertainty.

Moral Psychology
31
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moral_psychology
Moral psychology is a field of study in both philosophy and psychology. Some
use the term "moral psychology" relatively narrowly to refer to the study of moral
development. However, others tend to use the term more broadly to include any
topics at the intersection of ethics and psychology and philosophy of mind. Some
of the main topics of the field are moral judgment, moral reasoning, moral
responsibility, moral development, moral character (especially as related to virtue
ethics), altruism, psychological egoism, moral luck, and moral disagreement.
Some psychologists that have worked in the field are Jean Piaget, Lawrence
Kohlberg, Elliot Turiel, Jonathan Haidt, Linda Skitka, Marc Hauser, C. Daniel
Batson, Joshua D. Greene, A. Peter McGraw, and Philip Tetlock. Some
philosophers that have worked in the field are Stephen Stich, John Doris, Joshua
Knobe, Shaun Nichols, Thomas Nagel, Robert C. Roberts, Jesse Prinz, Michael
Smith, and R. Jay Wallace.
History
Historically, early philosophers such as Aristotle and Plato engaged in both
empirical research and a priori conceptual analysis about the ways in which people
make decisions about issues that raise moral concerns. Moral psychological issues
have been central theoretical issues explored by philosophers from the early days
of the profession right up until the present. With the development of psychology as
a discipline separate from philosophy, it was natural for psychologists to continue
pursuing work in moral psychology, and much of the empirical research of the 20th
century in this area was completed by academics working in psychology
departments.
Today moral psychology is a thriving area of research in both philosophy and
psychology, even at an interdisciplinary level. For example, the psychologist
Lawrence Kohlberg questioned boys and young men about their thought processes
when they were faced with a moral dilemma, producing one of many very useful
empirical studies in the area of moral psychology. As another example, the
32
philosopher Joshua Knobe recently completed an empirical study on how the way
in which an ethical problem is phrased dramatically affects an individual's intuitions
about the proper moral response to the problem. More conceptually focused
research has been completed by researchers such as John Doris. Doris (2002)
discusses the way in which social psychological experiments---such as the
Stanford Prison Experiments involving the idea of situationism---call into question a
key component in virtue ethics: the idea that individuals have a single,
environment-independent moral character. As a further example, Shaun Nichols
(2004) examines how empirical data on psychopathology suggests that moral
rationalism is false!
Cultural Values
Morality didn’t arise from individual choice but from a collection of human decisions
to try and create a structure while living together. Constraints by their environments
and natural human desires influenced these decisions. The evolution of human
social instincts overlap with the evolution of culture. Cultural morality has provided
a way of managing conflict. Cultural morality requires behavior that is cooperative
and considerate of others, it discourages potentially unhealthy self-interest, and
encourages other-regarding emotions beneficial in society. Furthermore, it can
provide an outlet of self-interest motivations in other-regarding actions.
In his 1992 study, Schwartz, in collaboration with Roccas and Sagiv, studies how
value priorities are effected by the “social experience,” how they affect “behavioral
orientation and choices,” (p. 1) and how/why they differ across cultures and
nations. He finds that the majority of cultures prioritize these 10 value types: Self-
Direction, Stimulation, Hedonism, Achievement, Power, Security, Conformity,
Tradition, Benevolence, and Universalism. Within these value types there are
values that cultures all prioritize to varying degrees.
Schwartz created a theory of the types of values of which various cultures can be
contrasted to one another. The data was collected from 49 nations around the
world and then used to create seven value types according to the nation’s priorities
33
of values. Schwartz selected the 7 value types based on their compatibilities and
contradictions to one another. The value types were conservatism vs. autonomy
and affective autonomy, hierarchy vs. egalitarianism, and mastery vs. harmony.
The value types were used to draw light upon nations whose cultures were closely
related as opposed to those that were drastically different. The theory is based on
culture level dimensions, rather than individual level dimensions, so that
conclusions can be drawn accounting for the entire nation as a whole (majority),
rather than the individual person. The value profiles of the five nations had
significant results in that not only did the students and teachers yield similar
results, but the majority of the divided up regions had similar values that were
emphasized as well. The results of the study essentially validated Schwartz study
design and set the ground work for assessing the cultural implications of values
and formulating hypothesis based on the co plots. Furthermore, the research done
on neighboring nations exhibited a correlation between geographical proximity and
shared cultural values. Schwartz contributes these relationships to the “shared
history, religion, level of development, culture contact and other factors” (p. 37)

Earth
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth
Earth (or the Earth) is the third planet from the Sun and the densest and fifth-
largest of the eight planets in the Solar System. It is also the largest of the Solar
System's four terrestrial planets. It is sometimes referred to as the World, the Blue
Planet, or by its Latin name, Terra.
Home to millions of species including humans, Earth is currently the only
astronomical body where life is known to exist. The planet formed 4.54 billion years
ago, and life appeared on its surface within one billion years. Earth's biosphere has
significantly altered the atmosphere and other abiotic conditions on the planet,
enabling the proliferation of aerobic organisms as well as the formation of the
ozone layer which, together with Earth's magnetic field, blocks harmful solar
radiation, permitting life on land. The physical properties of the Earth, as well as its
geological history and orbit, have allowed life to persist during this period. The
planet is expected to continue supporting life for at least another 500 million years.
Earth's outer surface is divided into several rigid segments, or tectonic plates, that
migrate across the surface over periods of many millions of years. About 71% of
the surface is covered with salt water oceans, the remainder consisting of
continents and islands which together have many lakes and other sources of water
contributing to the hydrosphere. Liquid water, necessary for all known life, is not
known to exist in equilibrium on any other planet's surface. Earth's poles are mostly
covered with solid ice (Antarctic ice sheet) or sea ice (Arctic ice cap). The planet's
interior remains active, with a thick layer of relatively solid mantle, a liquid outer
core that generates a magnetic field, and a solid iron inner core.
Earth interacts with other objects in space, especially the Sun and the Moon. At
present, Earth orbits the Sun once every 366.26 times it rotates about its own axis,
which is equal to 365.26 solar days, or one sidereal year. The Earth's axis of
rotation is tilted 23.4° away from the perpendicular of its orbital plane, producing
seasonal variations on the planet's surface with a period of one tropical year
37
(365.24 solar days). Earth's only known natural satellite, the Moon, which began
orbiting it about 4.53 billion years ago, provides ocean tides, stabilizes the axial tilt
and gradually slows the planet's rotation. Between approximately 3.8 billion and
4.1 billion years ago, numerous asteroid impacts during the Late Heavy
Bombardment caused significant changes to the greater surface environment.
Both the mineral resources of the planet, as well as the products of the biosphere,
contribute resources that are used to support a global human population. These
inhabitants are grouped into about 200 independent sovereign states, which
interact through diplomacy, travel, trade, and military action. Human cultures have
developed many views of the planet, including personification as a deity, a belief in
a flat Earth or in the Earth as the center of the universe, and a modern perspective
of the world as an integrated environment that requires stewardship.
The future of the planet is closely tied to that of the Sun. As a result of the steady
accumulation of helium at the Sun's core, the star's total luminosity will slowly
increase. The luminosity of the Sun will grow by 10% over the next 1.1 Gyr
(1.1 billion years) and by 40% over the next 3.5 Gyr. Climate models indicate that
the rise in radiation reaching the Earth is likely to have dire consequences,
including the loss of the planet's oceans.
The Earth's increasing surface temperature will accelerate the inorganic CO2 cycle,
reducing its concentration to levels lethally low for plants (10 ppm for C4
photosynthesis) in approximately 500 million to 900 million years. The lack of
vegetation will result in the loss of oxygen in the atmosphere, so animal life will
become extinct within several million more years. After another billion years all
surface water will have disappeared and the mean global temperature will reach
70 °C (158 °F). The Earth is expected to be effectively habitable for about another
500 million years from that point, although this may be extended up to 2.3 billion
years if the nitrogen is removed from the atmosphere. Even if the Sun were eternal
and stable, the continued internal cooling of the Earth would result in a loss of
much of its CO2 due to reduced volcanism, and 35% of the water in the oceans
would descend to the mantle due to reduced steam venting from mid-ocean ridges.

Little Red Riding Hood
http://www.cuentoseningles.com.ar/shortstories/children/CaperucitaRoja1.html
Once upon a time there was a dear little girl who was loved by every one who
41tones4141 at her, but 41tones41 all by her grandmother, and there was nothing
that she would not have given to the child. Once she gave her a little cap of red
velvet, which suited her so well that she would never wear anything else. So she
was always called Little Red Riding Hood.
One day her mother said to her, “Come, Little Red Riding Hood, here is a piece of
cake and a bottle of wine. Take them to your grandmother, she is ill and 41ton, and
they will do her good. Set out 41tones it gets hot, and when you are going, walk
nicely and quietly and do not run off the path, or you may fall and break the bottle,
and then your grandmother will get nothing. And when you go into her room, don’t
forget 41tones, good-morning, and don’t 41tones4141o every corner 41tones you
do it.” I will take great care, said Little Red Riding Hood to her mother, and 41tone
The grandmother lived out in the wood, half a league from the village, and just as
Little Red Riding Hood entered the wood, a wolf met her. Little Red Riding Hood
did not know what a wicked creature he was, and was not at all afraid of him.
“Good-day, Little Red Riding Hood,” said he.
“Thank you kindly, wolf.”
“Whither away so early, Little Red Riding Hood?”
“To my grandmother’s.”
“What have you got in your apron?”
“Cake and wine. Yesterday was baking-day, so poor sick grandmother is to have
something good, to make her stronger.”
“Where does your grandmother live, Little Red Riding Hood?”
“A good quarter of a league farther on in the wood. Her house stands under the
three large oak-trees. You surely must know it,” replied Little Red Riding Hood.
41
The wolf thought to himself, “What a tender young creature. She will be better
42tones than the old woman. I must act carefully.” So he walked for a short time by
the side of Little Red Riding Hood, and then he said, “See Little Red Riding Hood,
how pretty the flowers are about here — why do you not look around? I 42tones42,
too, that you do not hear how sweetly the little birds are singing; you walk gravely
along as if you were going to school, while everything else out here in the wood is
very merry.”
Little Red Riding Hood raised her eyes, and when she saw the sunbeams dancing
here and there through the trees, and pretty flowers growing everywhere, she
thought, ‘Suppose I take grandmother a rose. That would please her too. It is so
early in the day that I shall still get there in good time.’ And so she ran from the
path into the wood to look for a rose.
Meanwhile the wolf ran straight to the grandmother’s house and knocked at the
door.
“Who is there?”
“Little Red Riding Hood,” replied the wolf. “I am bringing cake and wine. Open the
door.”
“Lift the 42tone,” called out the grandmother, “I am too 42ton, and cannot get up.”
The wolf lifted the 42tone, the door sprang open, and without saying a word he
went straight to the grandmother’s bed, and devoured her. Then he 42tones her
clothes, 42tones himself in her cap, laid himself in bed. Little Red Riding Hood,
however, had been running about 42tones42 roses, and when she had gathered
so many that she 42tone carry no more, she remembered her grandmother, and
set out on the way to her.
She was surprised to find the cottage-door standing open, and when she went into
the room, she had such a strange 42tones42 that she said to herself, ‘Oh dear,
how uneasy I feel to-day, and at other times I like being with grandmother so
much.’ She called out, “Good morning,” but received no answer. So she went to
the bed. There lay her grandmother.
42
“Oh, grandmother,” she said, “what big ears you have.”
“The better to hear you with, my child,” was the reply.
“But, grandmother, what big eyes you have,” she said.
“The better to see you with, my dear.”
“But, grandmother, what large hands you have.”
“The better to hug you with.”
“Oh, but, grandmother, what a terrible big mouth you have.”
“The better 43tones you with.”
And scarcely had the wolf said this, he was out of bed and swallowed up Little Red
Riding Hood.
When the wolf had appeased his appetite, he lay down again in the bed, fell asleep
and began to snore very loud. A huntsman was just passing the house, and
thought to himself, ‘How the old woman is snoring. I must just see if she wants
anything.’ So he went into the room, and when he came to the bed, he saw that the
wolf was lying in it. “Do I find you here, you old sinner,” said he. “I have long sought
you.” Then just as he was going to 43ton at him, it occurred to him that the wolf
might have devoured the grandmother, and that she might still be saved, so he did
not 43ton, but took a 43tones43 scissors, and began to cut open the stomach of
the sleeping wolf.
When he had made two snips, he saw the Little Red Riding Hood, and then he
made two snips more, and the little girl sprang out, crying, “Ah, how frightened I
have been. How dark it was inside the wolf.”
And 43tone that the aged grandmother came out alive also, but scarcely able to
breathe. Little Red Riding Hood, however, quickly fetched great 43tones with which
they filled the wolf’s belly, and when he awoke, he wanted to run away, but the
43tones were so heavy that he collapsed at once, and fell dead.

Interpretación
Caperucita Roja
lobo y comenzaron a charlar:
44
