With the Western Roman Empire gone there is a power vacuum in Europe. All the different kingdoms for the next 900 years will not have as much influence as
another power. Men and women can become educated by joining it. It’s power commands Kings, Emperors, directs the lives of many.

Boccaccio: Signs of Death (7) See- No medicine or advice works, doctors began to spring up everywhere, they did
not know what caused it, death within three days, fevers, disease spread like a fire with oil, going near the sick caused illness.
Know- Few recover from illness, most die. People became doctors or acted as doctors to try and help the sick. Disease spread quickly and effectively.
Infer- Panic causes people to “doctor up,” panic of the sick spreading it just by talking to clothes being touched. The healthy and are afraid to talk to touch clothing of the sick or even be near them.
