ROTATION: The earth moves arond its own axis. This movement

takes 24 hours.

REVOLUTION or TRANSLATION: The Earth moves around the Sun, it takes 365 days (one

year).

The principal concequences of this

movement are the seasons of the year:

spring, summer, autumn and winter

The representation of The Earth

Our planet has the form of a sphere. We can represent it

with a globe

Or a map.

A cartographer is a person who creates maps.

The geographical coordinates

We use imaginary lines to find any place on

the Earth. People call these lines meridian

and parallels.

PARARELLELS are horizontal lines.

The first parallels is called Equator.

MERIDIANS are vertical lines.

The first meridian is called Greenwich.
