Question 1 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

• Learning about codes conventions were the only way we were able to produce our documentary, in the favour of our targeted audience. With out this, we would not have had the guidelines to fit our genre. Which was an expository and revealing documentary. Registering conventions from these sub-genres, as well as the conventions used in the documentaries we researched, we were able to depict useful codes and conventions which we thought would maximise the success of our production. Saying that, we had to later manipulate some of these chosen conventions to fit our documentary.

• While planning and creating the Print Advert, we thought it was best to follow the majority of channel 4’s print advert guideline. The restrictions were heavy and the gap to manipulate them was very fine. • However, for the double page spread,

we were open to do as we feel with very little restrictions. We mainly worked off feedback, improving as the audience suggested so.

Question 2 How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

• It was important that our production matched our ancillary, in both quality and style. • We created synergy

with-in our work in order to make it recognisable. Developing a house style and brand identity.

Question 3 What have you learned from your audience feedback?

• Gaining feedback has enabled us to progress greatly in the entire Advanced portfolio. The feedback received was constructive and we used this to create better products. Our audience did not like some of the things we done and gave ideas on how it could be improved, while some loved the way certain things were done, so we kept those factors the same. The feedback gave a judgement other than our own which was extremely helpful.

Question 4 How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and

evaluation stages?

• The use of media technologies made our production possible. Each device had its own purpose, from MACS and iMovie, to simple recording software on mobile devices. They made it a lot easier to transfer files, save files and create the production. The internet also helped during research stages as it included everything we needed to know and when we were stuck, aided us with useful tips and suggestions. We also used the internet (Wordpress) to create our blog so our audience had a place to view our work and we had somewhere to display and organise it accordingly. The DSLR camera (cannon 550D) gave us an exceptional quality of filming that we couldn’t have had with a mobile device or tablet.

Overall

• Overall, our production was a success as the feedback given from the targeted audience was positive. • All the factors that contributed to making the

documentary and ancillary products were well thought about and were worth it.
