They are the highest mountain range in the Carpathian Mountains. The Tatras should be distinguished from the Low Tatras which arelocated south of the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia.The Tatra Mountains occupy an area of 785 square kilometres.The highest point in Poland, Rysy, at 2,499 m is located south ofZakopane. 3. MAZURYMazury is a region in northern Poland famous for its 2,000 lakes.Mazury occupies much of the Masurian Lake District . Administratively, it belongs to Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .Its biggest city is Olsztyn, often regarded as its capital.It has territory of about 10,000 km2 and population of 500,000.The biggest lakes are niardwy, Mamry and Jeziorak. 4. BIAOWIEABiaowiea is in north-eastern Poland in the Podlaskie Voivodeship near theborder with Belarus.The nearest city is Biaystok, which is the capital of the voivodeship.Biaowiea is famous for its the oldest European forests. In Biaowiea created the reserve which was inscribed on the WorldHeritage List in 1992 and internationally recognized as a Biosphere Reserveunder UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Program in 1993. 5. SOWISKI NATIONALPARK Sowiski National Park is a National Park in Pomeranian Voivodeship, northernPoland.It is situated on the Baltic coast, between eba and Rowy. In the past, the parks area was a Baltic Sea bay. The seas activity, however, created sand dunes which in the course of timeseparated the bay from the Baltic Sea. As waves and wind carry sand inland the dunes slowly move, at a speed of 3 to10 meters per year.
