Airpower … From the Ground Up!
The Strategy Statement The strategy statement is simply a detailed plan that
explains the overall lesson objective and the steps to take in achieving the objective efficiently and effectively. Written by the lesson developer Does not change or get personalized
Think of the strategy statement as
“instructions” for teaching a lesson
Airpower … From the Ground Up!
Ok, instructions for teaching a lesson, I got it and that’s a
good start; but what are the benefits of a quality strategy
statement?
Airpower … From the Ground Up!
What are theBenefits Lesson Developer
Helps determine the best options to adopt when deciding on methodology, teaching techniques, interim objectives, and type and amount of proof and clarification support
Helps future course directors or lesson developers by spelling out the detailed rationale for choosing these options
Think back to the trucking example in the lesson
introduction; do you recall the proof, clarification and
rationale?
Northern vs. Southern Route
Airpower … From the Ground Up!
What are theBenefits Teacher/Instructor
Easily understand why the different elements of the lesson plan are included
Easily adopt the process as their own Plan more coherently
Internally and as it relates to other lessons in the curriculum
Sound reasoning provides solid framework for
personalization, again think about the trucking example
Northern vs. Southern Route
Airpower … From the Ground Up!
What are theBenefits Students
Provides a well-formulated overview for the lesson introduction by telling the students exactly what will be covered in the lesson without exposing the lesson itself
Note: The strategy is not typically shared verbatim with the students, but elements can be included in the overview.
