The wrestling competition in Sinh Village

Time: 10th day of the first lunar month.

Place: Sinh Village (or Lai An village), Phu Mau Commune, Phu Vang District, Thua

Thien Hue  Province. 

Every year after Tet holiday, people of Sinh village are eager to organize the wrestling

competition on a high piece of land of their village. At first, villagers come to temple to

worship ancestors of wrestling art. A reputable person in the village will be elected to

supervise competition. Before each match, wrestlers come to arbitrator to listen to

necessary rules of competition. A competition lasts one day, the morning is for

preliminary rounds, those who can win successively 3 matches can come to the final.

To take championship, a person must win at least 8 matches. The wrestling competition

of Sinh Village symbolizes for the spirit of respect for martial arts of Hue inhabitant

during 6 centuries.

Hon Chen Temple Festival

Time: During 3rd and 7th lunar month.

Place: Hon Chen temple in Ngoc Tran Mount, Hai Cat village, Huong Tra district, Thua Thien Hue province.

Hon Chen festival also known as Mother Festivals. It is organized for the worship of the Holy Mother Thien Ya Na who created land, trees and taught people the art of growing trees.

The procession takes place at night with a long line of boats and a performance about imperial characters. Actors dressed in clothes with splendid turbans and tunics look like princes and princesses of the Nguyen dynasty. They used dragon procession and some different Royal items to receive the Holy Mother with consideration from Hue Nam to Hai Cat village. After the vicissitudes of history, the festival retains the traditional characteristics of local.

Traditional boat racing festival

Time: 2-9

Place: Huong riversides, in front of Hue national School.

The traditional boat race in Thua Thien Hue is a new festival was held after the liberation of the South in 1975. The main purpose of the contest is to create the opportunity for young people  to exercise and make a joyful atmosphere for people.

Each team must go through three rounds of competition. After the drums sounded, the team started racing. The team came to destination faster than another will be winner.
