February

• St.Valentine`s Day- is celebrated on 14th February. This day we celebrate love and friendship, give love cards, heart shaped chocolates and red roses to person who are in love.

• Winter break- is a two-weak break from science. During this time we go skiing, sledging and snowboarding. It`s funny time of snowball fights.

International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 every year.

It is simply an occasion for men to express their love for women.

• EASTERIt`s the oldest and most important Christian feast in Poland, commemorating the resurrection of Jezus Christ. It`s celebrated on the first Sunday after the first moon of spring.

On Holy Saturday we paint eggs, prepare „Święconka”- blessed food eaten for Easter Sunday breakfast and decorate an Easter Basket which is blessed in church. In the basket there are eggs, ham, piece of bread, sausage and salt.

On 3rd May we celebrate National Constitution Day. This is our National flag and emblem.

On 1st June we celebrate Children`s Day. It is International Day in Poland. This day parents express love and give presents to their children. We get sweets, toys and games. At school, there is also special event ”Baw się razem z nami”, where the teachers spend time with us and our families. It`s great !!!

School holidays are the periods during which schools are closed usually from last Friday of June to the end of August.

The end of school year!!!

This day we wear smart clothes and we go to school. The best students with very good marks and behaviour get diploma.

It is also wedding time in Poland.

Our tradition is that after leaving the Church, the couple is showered with rice as a sign of affluance. We enjoy this day with our family and friends.

The Teacher`s Day officially called the National Education Day. It `s celebrated on 14th October in Poland. The school organize the formal performances to honour the teachers.

November

• 11th of November we celebrate Independence Day in Poland to commemorate the anniversary of the restoration of a Polish state.

• From 11th November 1918 we are free country.

During Christmas we spend time together with family. We enjoy Christmas time. We eat Christmas dinner on 24th December. There are 12 meals on our table. We eat for example beetroot soup, mushroom soup, pierogi, carp fish, beans, cakes and drink compote made of fried fruit. We should remember to leave one plate free for person who is alone and knock at our door.
