TITLES ON A BLANK SCREEN This is the most common film opening It involves different kinds of typeface on a black background It usually has a white typeface on the black background to
create high contrast It’s low budget, but simple to include institutional
information at the beginningExample: Pulp Fiction- Very simple- Bold title- Easy to read
TITLES ON STILL IMAGES More Elaborate It was developed to include hand written borders and other
images It includes a move past, just text but incorporates text with
a visual image (hint of genre) It requires combination of different media to make the
background Example: Wimbledon
- Sound is incorporated with the appearance of the text
TITLE OVER MOVING IMAGES This incorporates the credit titles with the moving image,
sound and usually no dialogue It serves to offer - Metaphor- Narrator threadTo help introduce the tone or storyline
Example: Rear Windows- Includes credits- Sound gives away the theme
of the movie- Bold title
TITLES USING ANIMATION OR MOTION It became more popular in late 1990’s Titles themselves become apart of the moving image It requires a lot of digital technology and stylized editing
Example: James Bond: Casino Royale
