* Every sentence has two basic elements which are :
1-Subject (one or compound )
2- Predicate (complete thought .. Meaning ) (one or
compound )

Sentence
It has one subject-verb pairIt is an independent clause
He lives in Palestine .
Compound Sentences
* It contains two independent clauses (two simple
sentences).
* These two clauses are composed by :
1- a semicolon.
.2- a coordinating conjunction.3- a transition

I love living in this city ; there are so many things to do

* It contains one independent clause and one
dependent clause are joined by
subordinating conjunctions.
• Complex Sentence
He was upset about his toy because it was
broken.
• Some subordinating conjunctions
* It contains two independent clauses and one or
more dependent clauses.
• Compound-Complex
Although I like to go camping, I haven't had the
time to go lately, and I haven't found anyone to
go with.
1- Declarative: statement
* Ali studies Arabic.

2- Interrogative: question
* Who broke the window ?
3- Imperative : requests
* Be calm, please.
•4- Exclamatory: surprising or
thrilling thing.
