SETTING GOALS Setting Goals: Goals are those things
we want to accomplish or achieve in a certain period of time.
Establishing goals helps make decisions easier. When we know how we want things to turn out, we make the correct decisions to get there.
Our goals come from our hopes and dreams, the realities are the actual conditions that affect our goals.
STEPS TO ACCOMPLISH OUR GOALS:
• a. Set your own goal by deciding what is important to you – write it down, it makes it more realistic.
• b. Brainstorm steps to reach your goal
• c. Act on your goal
• d. Evaluate progress and move forward or adjust steps.
GOAL TIME FRAMESWe categorize goals into 3 main areas - short, medium, and long term. However, it's not that simple. Many of our short, and even medium, term goals and decisions effect us long term. For example having a goal to save money for a certain item or event can give you long term savings habits.
• Short term = less than one month
• Medium term = 1 month to 1 year
• Long term = over 1 year
THINKING ABOUT YOUR GOALS:
• In your notes jot down a few real and meaningful goals:
• A short term goal
• A medium term goal
• A long term goal
