Comic strips feature various literary techniques such as setting the plot, building conflict and dramatic tension, working up to a big climax, and writing a satisfying resolution. They are also a particularly good way to introduce satire and irony to children who have not encountered or grasped these concepts before. These ideas and techniques are an important part of many writers’ toolkits, and comic books can get students to understand and use them with greater ease, helping them become better readers, writers, and thinkers.
