  • 1. In your web browser enter the following address into the address box,www.lirn.net. Click on Member Database Access to enter the authorization page.

2. At the box at the bottom of the page enter your campuspassword as supplied by your librarian. Click Submit. 3. The LIRN portal page for your campus will appear with a list of available resources. 4. Click on Connect to INFOTRAC. 5. A page will appear that shows the databases under InfoTrac. At the top of this page is an opening paragraph. Read this paragraph carefully. It contains instructions on how to search one classification of data or cross search through several databanks. 6. Using InfoTrac PowerSearch:Click on Select all cross searchable databases. 7. This is the main InfoTrac PowerSearchpage. Below the main search box areoptions that allow you to choose onlydocuments with full text as well asdocuments with images anddocuments that have been peer-reviewed.To search:Type pixel into the find search box.Check the box documents with fulltext.Check the box documents withimages.Click Search. 8. A list of articles appears. Atthe bottom of each article istext explaining its contents, inthis case the article containsthe full text and graphics aswell as a PDF scan of theoriginal document.Click on the title to view thearticle. 9. How to Search InfoTrac an example: Open to InfoTrac, click on the title Computer Database. 10. Enter the word Pixel in the Search box.Click Search. 11. A listing of articles about pixels will appear. Scrolldown to one of these titles and click on it. 12. Once you have found aresource, you have severalchoices.You can: read the article on line print the article email the article toyourself or someone else save the article in favoritesfor future reference oremailing. 13. If you click on Citation Tools, a new window will pop up withoptions for saving a citation to this article. 14. Select the style of citation you wish to use, then click Save. 15. A box will pop up asking you where to save or open the file to.The citation is saved as an HTM file which can be opened withyour web browser. From there you can copy the text to paste intoyour document. 16. Click on Connect to Proquest. 17. A page will appear that will show ablock for the selection ofdatabases you wish to use. Clickon this and only the databasesavailable through your librarywill appear. Your librarysubscription may not contain allof the databases listed. Select the database appropriatefor your research. 18. The page will update and you can enter your specific search titleand use normal search procedures to find what you need. If you need more search help go to Search Tips. 19. Click on Connect to eLibrary. 20. Select the database you wish to use, you can select from:Newspapers, Magazines, Books, Maps, Websites, Pictures,Audio/Video and Transcripts. 21. You will then be able to search for a publication under the selected database. 22. Click on Connect to Credo Reference. 23. A page will appear that willshow a block for theselection of databases youwish to use. Click on this and thedatabases available throughyour library will appear.
