earning its revenues through

premium upgrades. Users

must purchase premium

packages in order to connect

their sites to their own

domains, remove Wix ads,

add e-commerce capabilities,

buy extra data storage and

bandwidth and more.

Wix provides hundreds of

website templates and a drag

and drop HTML5 website

builder which includes apps,

graphics, image galleries,

fonts and more. Everything on

Wix’ website-templates is

customizable so users can

choose function, style, color,

text, background, buttons that

match their needs or opt to

create their websites from

scratch. In October, 2013 Wix

introduced its own Mobile

Editor. The editor lets users

easily adjust their Wix-driven

sites to mobile viewing.

I like the look of Wix as

it seems very

professional. I also like

how you can search for

your perfect template

enabling you to create

your website how you

want it. I also like how

there’s no coding as this

may prove difficult for

people who have never

coded before. There is

also a number of tutorial

videos for beginners

which I would benefit

from as I’ve never used

this before. Also there is

an App Market which

allows you to add in

your own widgets and

website sliders which

would prove a lot more

difficult on other website

builders, this will also

make the making of the

website a lot easier and

therefore quicker. Wix

offers a lot of creative

options which are not

often found with these

kind of website builders.

to use this programme for my ancillary task.

San Francisco. The company

Veltri. The startup competes with

Wix.com, Webs, Jimdo, Yola,

SnapPages, and other web-

hosting and creation websites.

amongst the 50 Best Websites

of 2007.

Weebly gives millions of people

a surprisingly easy and

affordable way to create a site

that is as unique as they are.

With a Weebly site, people can

start their own business,

communicate with their clients,

showcase their achievements,

and professional interests.

Offering a range of pricing

options including a free plan and

premium plans starting at

$4/month, Weebly has

everything you need to plan,

build, publish and grow a site

Similarly to Wix, Weebly

looks very professional. It

has a series of menus

across the top for easy

access to its key features.

A simple drag and drop is

all it takes to add text,

images or forms to your

Weebly website. It’s so

easy to use it doesn’t need

tutorials to learn how to

use it which is a bonus for

beginners. It is also smart

phone friendly so I could

update my website while

outdoors if I’m inspired by

something. It allows the

adding of HTML meaning

you can add social media

widgets however this my

prove difficult for people

who have never worked

with HTML coding.

JIMDO WEBSITE BUILDERJimdo is a WYSIWYG

(What You See Is What

You Get) web hosting

service. Jimdo offers

JimdoFree, a free web

hosting service, JimdoPro

and JimdoBusiness, both

premium services. Jimdo is

operated by Jimdo GmbH,

a Hamburg, Germany-

based company. It

competes with Wix,

Weebly, Yola (formerly

Synthasite), Webs, uCoz,

Webnode and other web

hosting and creation sites.

The basic Jimdo service is

free; users of the basic

service have their website

names as the site name

and .jimdo.com. The two

premium services, Jimdo

Pro and Jimdo Business,

allow users to have their

own domain names. They

also receive additional

storage space and no

advertisements. Jimdo

offers a native site building

application for iOS.

Like Wix and Weebly this

looks very professional.

The first downside to this

website builder however is

that it’s only supported on

iOS which would prove

difficult for people with

Windows or Android

phones and will restrict

them in where and how

they can make their

website. However it has a

drag and drop fuctionality

which is something

everyone is familiar with in

this day and age meaning

it’s easy to use for young

and older people. The

templates are renewed

every year so everything

is modern and it is up to

date, the latest templates

were renewed in August

2014. Like Weebly, HTML

coding is accessible

allowing you to add social

media widgets, again this

may prove difficult for

people who have never

used HTML coding and it’s

not certain if there’s

instructions on how to do

it.

JIMDO EXAMPLES I have gathered some templates from JIMDO which I would consider using if I

decide to use this programme for my ancillary task.

I have decided to use WIX…I have decided to pick WIX as the website builder that I

will use for my ancillary task. I chose this as I like the

features it gives and I like the ability to be able to add

your own HTML coding as I am able to work with the

coding which will enable me to add my own personal

touches to my website. I also think it’s the most

professional looking website and it also has the most

choice in terms of website templates.

I also like the interface the website has and what it can

offer users which is why I have chosen to use it.
