Website Construction using WIX: Developments

Editing images on Photoshop

We decided to edit this image for the background of our ‘News’ page on the website. We agreed on whitening her teeth and her eye whites. When

researching into other artist we found that this was a conventional feature for artists and also meets the demands of the record label and consumers.

BEFORE AFTER

This is what the edited image looks like as a background. We have purposely matched the red text to her lips and the enhanced whitening gives the

image a bit more depth.

These are screenshots taken from the bottom of the news page. I have organised posts in a blog structure so that viewers can see latest images and information about the artist.

Similar Media ProductsI looked into similar artists websites to gain inspiration for the ‘about’

section. I learnt that you on some occasions it is written from the singers point of view and sometimes it can be from another persons perspective peppered with quotes from the artist to support their

description. In the cases of Birdy and Taylor Swift, both about sections are written from a third person perspective.

As a group we settled on writing the section from a third persons perspective along with quotes from Luna.

The first paragraph is a description of one of our shoots which provides the reader with a sense of the atmosphere during filming and an insight to her character offstage.

The second paragraph functions to establish who she is a provide basic details for example her age and her journey into the dance world.

I then built on her personal details but added in her inspirations for writing music and performing which is supported with a quote from her.

The last paragraph is in reference to the album ‘Won’t dance’ and the track ‘110%’.

Visually, the image in the background fills the screen and the white writing stands out clearly . I changed the opacity of the textbox so that the text was visible over the image. The title is in a font which I have been using

throughout the website.

Building the artists profile: Behind the scenes

This page is currently under progress. We are aiming to create a library of photos and videos that we captured on our camera phones. There is a feature on Wix that allows you to put photos on a show reel which I will definitely look into. This page will be a sneak preview into the making of the music video which is again, giving the reader an insight into the artist and how she behaves offstage.

The Merchandise Shop

We chose this photo because we could add text to the right of the frame. However, looking at the text now, I may need to alter the colour or add a shadow so that it stands out clearer.

There is also a menu bar located just below her chin which users can use to navigate around the site.

I created personalised products using ‘Zazzle.com’ where I could upload images and paste them on products as shown to the left. We created the two posters ourselves. I did some research into merch shops and found out that it was conventional to have minimal items but at a high price range. We took this concept further and I created six products which were at reasonably high prices.

The video will be imported into the video item when we upload it to YouTube. We will easily be able to embed it here. We again followed our crisp and clean layout and filled the background with an image of Luna. On my previous Slideshare website work, we had a similar image as the background but we changed it because parts of the image were out of focus and we thought that this image had a better composition. The caption below is both informative and a marketing tool because it says that it is ‘new’ and may initiate people to want to view it. The caption just merely states the name of the song and I think I am going to add ‘Luna’ to it too. I will need to confer with my group first.

There has been progression on the photo gallery page. We have added a honey comb structure for images as oppose to simple boxes. This is visually appealing and makes it easier to view images. We have also varied what images we use. We have a mixture of both studio and outdoor shots as well as UV light pictures.
