• Poland is situated between the Baltic Sea to the North and the Sudeten and Carpathian Mountains to the South, in the basin of the Vistula and Oder.

• To the West it is bordered by Germany to the South of the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the South of Ukraine and Belarus, North East of Lithuania and to the North of Russia.

• The major part of the country is covered by lowland eastern part of the Central Lowlands, and the average altitude is 173 m above sea level

• The highest point in the country are Rysy, the lowest point is depression Raczki Elbląskie.
