• The SUB HEADING: We wanted our sub heading, which reads “In a world of deception... Do you reject or conform?” to make the viewer of the poster actively think about this rhetorical question which will consequently interest our main target audience. This writing, if done professionally would be done in capital letters in a dark readable font so that it is eye-catching to our audiences.

• The TITLE: Our title “The Longing” will be placed towards the top of the poster and in the centre in white “veneer” font surrounded by a black box. The font itself is faded which connotes the challenging and stereotypical media representations that we are going to include within our narrative. In addition, the contrast in colours connotes Laura longing (!)/ aspiration to break out of her social circle and not conform to society.

How About the actual artwork design?•The BRICK WALL : If done professionally, the brick

wall would look something like the image below. This stereotypically connotes to areas where gangs such as the one in our film would situate themselves. In addition, the inclusion of graffiti would connote to the stereotypical representation/ideology that young people in the working class/ lower classes are often the instigators of crime.

How About the actual artwork design?• GANG MEMBERS SURROUNDING LAURA: This

connotes how Laura is vulnerable and is often peer pressured into doing things that doesn’t necessarily want to do i.e. steal from a shop. The fact that the gang members are standing also connotes how they are superior than Laura.

• LAURA IS SITTING DOWN: This immediately indicates how Laura is in an inferior position. This also make reference to the stereotypical and almost hegemonic ideology that women are inferior to men and are classed as the ‘weaker sex’.]

• LAURA IS THE ONLY PART OF THE POSTER IN COLOUR: This connotes how Laura is an important character within our narrative and also makes reference to how we have gone against common conventions of social realism and the ideological ‘masculine’ traits such as violence etc. that are often associated with social realism films and also that the protagonist in our narrative is female. In addition, the use of colour connotes how the production is a reflection of reality of Laura’s life that includes media representations of people in the working/ lower classes.
