William Blake claimed that he began seeing his first visions at a very young age. He studied engraving and soon began to love gothic art. Blake was a misunderstood artist, poet, and visionary for much of his life until later in life when he gained admirers of his work. When he died in 1827, his writings began to influence people all across the world.

“the Angel”

As I said before William Blake began getting visions

as a young boy and many of the visions here saw had to relate to angels. “The Angel” is excellent

example of the visions he witnessed. “The Angel” is also one of the more popular writings he is famous for.

The poem first starts out with, “ dreamt a dream”. This dream was about is about a woman becoming a maiden Queen. She cried night a day but the angel was there to wipe here tears away, but when the angel found out she was truly happy, he

fled away.

“I Heard an Angel” is also one of the well known poems Blake

wrote during his lifetime. This poem is also about him

encountering an angel in the morning and the devil at night.

The poem begins with, “ I heard an Angel singing”. Blake begins talking about how he heard an Angel singing all day until the sun went down. As soon as the sun went down a devil course came out and began chanting something the

complete opposite of the angel. He portrayed light as good moments and darkness as the evil moments of one’s life.
