Trip Date: April 3 & 4

Tentative Schedule

6:00 p.m. Arrive at the NightCrawler parking lot using the map (will be provided)

6:30 p.m. Evening activities begin, including tours of the World of Reptiles and Animal Nutrition kitchen, an animal encounter, and zoo tech

activities.

10:00 p.m. Evening program ends; prepare for bed.

11:00 p.m. Lights out

7:00 a.m. Wake up

7-8 a.m Load all luggage and personal belongings in cars for temporary storage

Clean up sleeping locations: pick up all trash and tidy up classrooms.

8:00 a.m. Breakfast

8:30 a.m. Begin guided tour of Zoo Atlanta.

10:30 a.m. Structured NightCrawlers conclude at the Zoo Atlanta Trading Company, but small groups will continue zoo exploration.

12:00 p.m. Lunch

12:30 p.m. Departure by school buses

Returning to Sweet Apple for regular dismissal

Cost $65.00 per student

$104.25 total per chaperone ($60.00 zoo + $44.25 background check)

Fulton County Chaperone

Requirements All chaperones have to be fingerprinted by Fulton County Schools Police.  Either at the Administrative Building 786 Cleveland Avenue SW Atlanta GA 30315 or at the Milton Center, 86 School Drive, Alpharetta, Georgia 30009.  When arriving at the Milton Center , enter thru the door that is marked “Gwinnett Tech Adult Education” and check in at the security desk.

 In case of an emergency on the day of your appointment, she can be reached at 770-740-7061 ext. 164.  Please note:  She is only at this number on appointment days. 

Chaperones should call to schedule appointment times at (404) 763-5725.  No walk-ins accepted this arrangement is by appointment only. 

There is a fee due of $44.25 for printing which has to be in the form of a money order or bank cashier’s check made payable to:  Fulton County Schools.  No cash, credit/debit cards or personal checks accepted.

Background check valid for two years

Medication An administrator will be in charge of

administration of medication

Medication will need to be in a labeled, plastic bag the day of the trip

Attach the medication release form to the bag

Emergency Phone Numbers Cell phones will be used for

communication

Parents may call the school if there are issues

In the event of later return to Sweet Apple, a blast will be sent through Parent Connect.

Items to bring…Students NEED TO bring: a sleeping bag and a pillow weather-appropriate clothing in a small bag such

as a gym bag or backpack comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes, as we will

be hiking all over Zoo Atlanta.

Students MAY NOT bring: other electronics (CD players, iPods, video games,

etc.) any other games or personal items flashlights, gum, beverages with straws

Food Please eat dinner before arriving at Zoo Atlanta.

The zoo will provide a small snack during our program. We will try to gather additional snacks and beverages (including water)

The zoo will serve a continental breakfast, including various cereals, bagels and cream cheese, blueberry muffins, yogurt, and juices the next morning.

Students that have allergies may bring appropriate foods and snacks

Lunch choices are pizza or sandwich with chips, a cookie and a drink

Helpful Hints Make sure your child eats a healthy dinner

before arriving at the zoo.

Dress in layers, as we aren’t sure what the weather will be.

Have your child pack their red shirt to wear on Thursday.

There are no showers available

Make sure your child has walking shoes. It will be a long day.
