What is Zotero and what does it do?

• Reference/Citation management software

• A Plugin for Firefox (also standalone version)

• Manages references like Endnote

• Allows you to access your library from any internet-connected computer (except Victoria student domain)

• Downloads bibliographic data from web pages

• Creates in-text citations/footnotes/bibliographies in a referencing style you choose in MS Word

Other versions of Zotero

• Mac users can install Zotero plugin for Mac Firefox

• Mac: there are “connectors” for Safari” and Chrome

• Zotero Standalone version: an Windows independent application – works with Chrome or Safari and their “connectors”

How Zotero works

Firefox/Frontmotion installation - 1

On Campus Computers:

• Zotero/Firefox combination only works on staff domain computers

• ITS need to install Firefox/Frontmotion for you if it isn’t on the computer

• Zotero needs Firefox (Frontmotion) v24.0 or newer: ITS will ned to update it for you

Anyone can install Firefox on personal, laptop and home computers.

To install:

• Go to http://www.mozilla.org/firefox

• or http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html

• Make sure you install the en-US language version

Go to http://www.zotero.org/ to download and install Zotero
