A few of the
Automated Iron Ore
Mine Laboratories
completed by
BHP – Newman
Largest fully automated robotic iron ore laboratory in the world
Capable of close to 3000 fused beads a day
4 robot circles
The facility also accepts samples from satellite laboratories
Rio Tinto – Tom Price
2 Automated crushers & 3 Automated mills
1 Robot circle
Crushing and milling for fusion, TGA/LOI testing, and XRF analysis are all performed by the system
The system is designed to process 700 samples per day
Roy Hill – Mine Laboratory
2 Robot circles
36kg plant samples are transported via IMP’s monorail system to the lab
600 pre-dried 15kg pit samples can be accommodated per day
Crushing, milling, fusion, 4 point LOI testing, and XRF analysis are all automatically performed by the system
Atlas Iron Ore – Mt. Webber
Fully automated sample preparation and analysis facility
800 samples per day, upgradeable to 1000 samples per day
The system processes pit control samples, and has a dedicated line to process near mine geochemical exploration
samples
IMP provided the facility on a turn-key basis
Kumba Resources
Sishen Expansion
IMP provided a turn-key automated sample station, fully integrated into two separate automated robotic sample
preparation and analysis cells
The sample station receives different samples of up to 1 ton in mass from the plant
Integrated pycnometers determine the density of the ore
Samples for manual jigging and other metallurgical tests are automatically produced in the process
FMG – Solomon
Plant samples are rapidly dried using IMP’s novel IR dryers.
Pit samples are dried conventionally
Crushing, milling, fusion, 4 point LOI testing, and XRF analysis are all automatically performed by the system
The facility runs with minimal staff and produces 800 fusions per day
All process and analytical data is managed by IMP’s ControlTrack LIMS
Minanalytical – Perth
Minanalytical is designed specifically to handle exploration samples where there is a requirement to retain crusher and
pulp residue samples
The system is capable of preparing more than 1000 samples per day
Maximum efficiency is achieved with reduced health and safety risks, improved precision and accuracy, and faster
turnaround times for analytical results
