FINENESS TEST ON CEMENT

AIM

To determine the fineness of cement as per indian standard sieving method.

APPARATUS

90 micron sieve,

Cement sample,

Weighing balance.

PROCEDURE :

•Weigh correctly 100gm of cement and transfer it on indian standard sieve No 9 ( 90 micron ).

•Break down the air-set lumps in the sample with fingers but don’t rub on the sieve .

Continuously sieve the sample by holding the sieve in both hands.

The sieving should be continues for 15 min.

Weigh the residue left sample after 15 min sieving.

RESULT

Percentage of residue of cement sample by dry sieving is ____.

The weigh of residue should not exceed 10% for OPC.
