How do you design a sustainable urban landscape for a major city? Sustainable solutions to urban land use in Santiago, Chile.
THE CHALLENGE
The city of Santiago, Chile needed to find a sustainable solution to urban land use for the transformation of the North-South highway,
which halves the city centre.
Veolia, through its subsidiary 2EI, participated in a 3D simulation project to design a sustainable city.
The simulator is an innovative tool to support decision making for sustainable urban land use planning.
After the numerical modelling of the territory in 3D, the platform allows a diagnosis of urban proposals. Proposals are evaluated for environmental and social benefits, in particular.
