FORK LIFTERS• As the name suggest, it has a fork at the front which can move

vertically up & down & can oscillate to a certain angle about horizontal axis to lift heavy components.

MACHINE SHOP:-

• The Machine Shop is very important shop for Northern Railway Workshop because here different types of machines are available, Lathe. Shaper, Drilling, Boring. Milling, Slotter etc.• Low machines….• High machines…,

LIFTING SHOP:-• Lifting and lowering of coaches,repair of bogie items,dismentel

assemble of bogie and buffer striping and fiting of battery box.

WHEEL SHOP:-• The movement of rolling stock on the track is possible only with the

help of wheels. For proper gripping of wheels on track a turn wheels have a special type of profile. When train takes a turn it is needed that outer wheel moves more distance than inner wheel. Instead of differential system for this purpose the wheel-profile is made tapered.

ROLLER BEARING SHOP:-A bearing similar to a ball bearing but using small cylindrical rollers instead of balls,a roller used in a roller bearing. The relative motion of the races causes the rolling elements to roll with very little rolling resistance and with little sliding.
