SLAUGHTER HOUSECONTRACTOR ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
PLAN
A slaughterhouse is a place where animals are butchered for consumption as food. We are implementing slaughter house because of the following:
A) To ensure the safety of the slaughtered animals and to ensure it is free of diseases which threaten the health of the consumer.
Continuation
• B) Pollution control during the (slaughter, preparation and processing) of carcasses in a clean safe healthy environment.
• C) To full the conditions of environmental sanitation by proper dealing.
Site of buildings for slaughtering house
• The slaughterhouse should be situated away from residential areas.
• Access for animals - either by road, rail and/or stock route - must be assured. The slaughterhouse should be located in areas where flooding is impossible. The area of our proposed project will be 300squaremeters but there should be a reasonable relationship between the size of slaughter facilities and the number of animals to be killed.
•
Buildings / facilities
• The floor must be hard, smooth and impervious, sloping sufficiently towards a drain thus allowing cleaning with water. Walls, if any, may be made of local construction materials. In certain dry areas walls are not necessary. Materials, which can be cleaned by water, are recommended, e.g. stone, lava blocks, bricks or concrete. Roofs, if any, may be constructed of materials available (tiles, corrugated iron, asbestos or aluminium).
Equipment
• Equipment such as tables, hooks and machines, etc. should be that it is easy to dismantle or remove to facilitate cleaning and that it should be made of non-corrosive materials.
Location: LIBAG NORTE, TUGUEGARAO CITY
ACTIVITIES IMPACT MITIGATION ENVIRONMENTAL LAW
1. Clearing of Area,Cutting of Trees,Cleaning the surrounding which includes burning of waste
-Noise to the environment-Global warming or Greenhouse effect-It pollutes the air-It increases the risk of flood
-Reforestation ( planting of trees as the substitute )-Proper waste disposal ( compose pit )-Implement 3r’s
-PD 953 AND 1153(Laws on Tree Planting)
-EO 23(Anti-Illegal Logging)
-PD 825(Prohibits the Improper Disposal of Garbage)
-RA 8749(Prohibits the Improper Disposal of Garbage)

2. Construction of the building
-Disturbance due to noise of the machines-Accidents due to falling debris
-Make warning signs- Shutting down noisyequipment when not needed.

3. Production Butchering
-Disturbances due to noise by the animals-Air pollution It may produce unwanted odours to the environment
-Time managementUse a device to barricade the area
-PD 953 AND 1153(Laws on Tree Planting)
-PD 825(Prohibits the Improper Disposal of Garbage)
-RA 8749(Prohibits the Improper Disposal of Garbage)

4. TransportationDistribution of
finish products to the market
- Increases air pollution
- Can cause unwanted additional noise
- Can contribute to traffic
- Detour or use alternative routes
If possible, lessen truck usage
- Schedules should be properly organize and it should be effective
- RA 4136(Land Transportation and Traffic Code)
- PD 1152(Philippine Environmental Policy)
- RA 8749 (The Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999)
ACTIVITIES IMPACT MITIGATION ENVIRONMENTAL LAW
5. Waste Disposal
- It increases greenhouse gases and global warming
- Air and water pollution
- It can cause health problems
- It lessens the fertility of the soil
- Proper waste disposal
- Avoid burning waste materials
- Implement 3r’s
- PD 825(Prohibits the Improper Disposal of Garbage)
- RA 9729(Climate Change Act of 2009)
- RA 8749(The Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999)
- PD 856(Sanitation Code of the Philippines)
- PD 984(pollution Control Law on Environmental Law)
- PD 600(Water Pollution Control Law)
RECOMMENDATION:
• The area should be located away from residential areas.
• If animals are killed in the facility all blood should be caught separately and either used, rendered or taken to a treatment facility.
RECOMMENDATION:
• Proper fencing to prevent access of unauthorized persons, the public, dogs and other animals fencing must be erected around the slaughterhouse area. The fencing should have contact with the ground at the lower edge and should be high enough to prevent access to the grounds.
• Use an onsite septic system to treat the wastewater.
CONCLUSION:
The proposed project will be successful. Since it is an open area and away from residential houses. And also one good factor will be it is located along the highway and transportation may not be a problem.
