The research was conducted on the asphalt pavement stripping which is a loss of bond between aggregates and asphalt binder that typically begins at the bottom of the HMA layer and progress upward. The writers have emphasized that during late 70s this issue was increased in U.S which may be due to the crude oil change or using of drum mixers in asphalt plant. In this regard the writers have studied four projects in which stripping took place just after 3 or 6 years of project completion. The similarities they found in pavement failure in all four projects were appearing of Mud stains, Flushing and Potholes on wheel tracks where the pressure applies mostly and due to presence of moisture the pavement damages early. The writers have concluded that:

Absence of moisture can prevent stripping.Due to poor drainage moisture vapors occur and move upwards due to capillary action and saturated the soil.If saturation exist under the layer, then stripping is likely to occur.

They recommended that:An asphalt treated permeable material base course at the bottom of asphalt pavement.

The research is done on the causes of pavement failure on highways of Jordan in contractor’s point of view.In this research the writer has designed a questionnaire after a literature review of scholarly papers, international articles on pavement failure and after interviewing seniors field contractors and directed that to contractors in road constructions to fill the questionnaire so that conclude their perspective about deterioration in pavement of Jordan highway’s.The writers have emphasized on the point that developing countries like Jordan has spent millions on infrastructure and due to poor design of road and traffic we face deterioration on pavement which causes to spent extra other millions to repair them. This study focuses on to minimize the pavement failure risk to save budget. The study concluded that the reason behind these crack and deterioration on pavement are:

Poor construction quality.Pavement WidthHigh traffic axial load and volumeDrainage systems and aggregate quality are sub standards.Poor supervision and quality tests during constructionRoad alignment and thickness of surface and sub base are inappropriate w.r.t to the
