Italian beverages company mostly identified for its eponymous Bisleri brandof bottled water.
Launched in Mumbai in the year 1965 for bottling and marketing of mineralwater.
Founder of the brand is Signor Felice Bisleri.
Parle Group was the brand who was interested in making soda and itprocured the Bisleri brand in 1969 and started bottling mineral water in glassbottles.
Mr. Ramesh J. Chauhan, Chairman and Managing Director of Bisleri PrivateLtd in 1969 took step to expand Bisleri to a large extent and over the period of10 years the average growth rate increased to 40%.
At present Bisleri contributes 60% of market share and thus making it aleader in packaged drinking water sector.
Water allowed to pass through various treatments
such as filteration ,aeration and filteration
performed with membrane filter, depth filter,
cartridge filter, activation carbon filter,
demineralization and remineralization, reverse
osmosis and the methods full filling all the
essential standards is termed as “packaged
drinking water”.
Main source for packaged drinking water is
underground water like bore well.
The process of remineralization is essential step
because all the essential nutrients are added to
treated water to balance the loss that took place
while treatment.
Ozonation , ultraviolet treatment, silver
ionization or combination of any two are approved
as disinfectants so as to reduce the microorganisms
to a level safe for human consumption.
In containers of various sizes and shapes made of plasticparticularly PET, suitable for direct consumption.
Filling is followed by capping and sealing simultaneously.
The filling as well as the packing of the processed watershall be in entertained only in containers which aretamperproof, tight and impervious.
If containers fail to provide any one among the threeproperties above should not be permitted for packaging andthe example of such failure containers are cool jugs,containers with reusable threaded caps etc.

The following licenses/ approvals are to be obtained for setting up apackaged drinking water plant in India:
•Small scale industries registration
•ISI certification from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)
•Pollution control certificate
•Water test report from an authorized laboratory of raw water
•Pest control certification
•Certificates from chemist, microbiologist
•Medical certificates for workers
•No objection certificate (NOC) from Gram Panchayat, if applicable
•Registration of trademark
•Documents related to ownership of land/lease of land for setting up theplant
•Memorandum of association of companies/partnership deed, if applicable.

•Sanction layout plan
HACCP
•Defensive action towards food safety against physical, chemical and
biological approach resulting in contamination of the food product and
causing the end product unfit for human consumption.
PRINCIPLES OF HACCP
PREREQUISITE PROGRAMMES (PRPs) FOR HACCP
Those processes that basically lay the foundation for HACCP plans
for safe food production.
Actually practiced before HACCP plan is verified.
Examples of PRPs include good hygiene and manufacturing practices,
good laboratory practices, standard sanitation operation process.

Cleaning and sanitization of plant as well as equipments
Waste management systems
Preventives measures for cross contamination
Continuous supply of power and water
Personal hygiene
Purchased materials and their management
Training of personnel
An ISO certification is not a license that permits an activity. It merely
certifies that a management system, manufacturing process, service or
documentation procedure has all the requirements for standardization
and quality assurance.

Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd has re-entered into the soft drinks
business after two decades in early 2006. This has resulted in the
expansion of the business. Non- metro markets are also contributing to
the growth of business. Over 90% of the total sales of Bisleri come
from bottled mineral water and rest of the 10% is contributed by others.
The director of Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd (R.K. Garg) in 2015 said
that the company would be continuing to add 10-12 plants for bottled
drinking water each year to keep swiftness with its growth demanding
an investment of Rs.100 crore annually.
