Part 1

In this podcast I will be discussing the trailer for a walk amongst the tombstones and primary and

secondary data research

Before a film is released to the entire general public small screening previews this is to gather

information for the produces to see at what people do and don’t like and what people think they

could do differently this is method is called primary research, primary research is going out and

finding out your own first hand information these are usually done in the film industry are screen

testing’s and also exit polls, exit polls can be used post and pre -production this is all primary

research, secondary research is research done by other people then you apply it to your own study

so you could look at ratings from similar kinds of movies and then look at how much things such as

how much money they made and also what time of year

Examples of qualities data would be an exit poll as you are collecting figures by getting them to tick

boxes the question asked would need to be narrow questions so responses with usually just a yes or

no answer

Quantative data is where you ask open questions so that you can get an informed opinion based

response

Part 2

Amongst the tombstones The target audience for this film is quite a broad target possibly from 15-

40 it’s also aimed at both female’s and male’s but mainly males as from the outset It shows vi olence

and bloodshed, there is also a distinct lack of a strong female character it would be probably aimed

at social class d2 to B as to incorporate working and middle class.

It draws the audience in with an intense advert it has deep voices and intense kind of rush about it

involves Liam neeson speaking to the antagonist he threatens to kill him so straight from the outset

we know it will be tense and fast they also use the start quality theory by having a start actor whose

is well connected with these films he I iconic to these types of films.

Part 3

In this area they have added things such as the star actor, movie title and slogan.

The star actor – the star actor is the largest image on the poster he is iconic to action thrillers he is

the reason that this movie will be popular, people will want to watch the movie based on the fact

that he is in it.

The movie title – is just above the actor’s image in standout colours this is so that people can identify

the name of the movie and also it gives a strong indication as to what kind of film it is by the rest of

the poster being in black and white and the title being in red.

The slogan – the slogan is it is being used in the poster to catch eyes and also give yet another

indication as to what kind of film it is and it is also probably a line taken from the film at an

important moment.

Part 4

From my data exit poll I can conclude that a lot of people were persuaded to come and watch a walk

amongst the tombstones simply because of the star quality that Liam neeson holds and the fact he is

iconic to the action thriller genre, people genially thought the acting was good and here were some

good scenes however they feel the film never real kicked on and gave any real detail to certain

character that people felt were important
