SUPERCRITICAL FLUID EXTRACTION OF SESAME SEED
APPLICATIONS OF SCFE
Why CO2 is most preferred as SCF solvent
Low critical temperature (31.0oC)
Low critical pressure (73.77 bar)
Nontoxic and non-corrosive (when dry)
Low cost

INTRODUCTION
Experimental Setup of SCFE unit
SUPERCRITICAL FLUID EXTRACTION OF SESAME SEED
ADVANTAGES OF SCFE
Consume less energy, less operating cost
Gives purer product, 100 % free from solvent
Provides very high value of selectivity, Lesser number of theoreticalstages and lesser hight
Operated at lesser temperature
Biotechnology route separation
SUPERCRITICAL FLUID EXTRACTION OF SESAME SEED
DISDVANTAGES OF SCFE
Higher capital investment
Very low value of distribution coefficient
Limited experience
Limited knowledge of design data
SUPERCRITICAL FLUID EXTRACTION OF SESAME SEED
APPLICATIONS OF SCFE
Decaffination of coffee
Deasphating of oil
Separation of aromas and oils from spices
Extraction of essence from fragrant materials

LITERATURE SURVEY
Data use for experimental work
Solvent : CO2
Temperature range : 300-335 K
Pressure range : 5-15 MPa
CO2 flow rate : 0.5-2 ml/min
SUPERCRITICAL FLUID EXTRACTION OF SESAME SEED
SCOPE OF WORK
To study the components of sesame seed oil by GC-MS(Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry)
By applying parametric study to SCFE and compare it with onetraditional technique (Hydrodistillation)
Parameters and equations which will derive from taguchi methodand RSM, that can be utilize in industrial SCFE design
