Precision is key in today’s mechanical industry, and there are a whole host of precision mechanical components that are in

use across a range of different machines. That includes parts such as lock nuts, clamps, shaft collars and spindle

components just to name a few.

But you may be wondering what makes precision mechanical components so important, how they are created and why you

should choose to use them in your large industrial machinery and equipment.

Certain pieces of machinery sometimes require incredibly specific and intricate parts. These parts can include treads,

grooves and tapers that have to have an exact fit to other larger components. If these parts don’t fit perfectly, you could

end up with a malfunctioning machine. Using precision mechanical components means there is less room for error, and

your parts will be created with a higher and more keen attention to detail.

Precision Machined PartsSo where do you start when it comes to creating precision machined parts?

Well the process begins with a simple drawing of the machine part that is needed. This drawing is then rendered up using a

computer aided design software, otherwise known as a CAD software. This CAD software then allows the engineer to turn

the drawing into a 3D diagram. The CAD design is then entered into another computer aided manufacturing program. The

computers are able to then remove any excess material that might have been included, in order to produce a precise part.

This machine based process helps to provide a greater accuracy as they’re able to carry out more precise cuts with a very

limited margin for error. They’re also about to carry out the same cuts and produce the exact same parts over and over

again. They can work to the same specifications and have errors cut right down to between 0.01 to 0.05mm. This level of

precision and consistent working can’t be carried out by human hands.

This style of precision machining can be used for small and large parts alike. That includes design tools, customer fasteners

and even essential hardware. If you are looking for multiple parts all with the exact same specifications, then this is the

process that you need. You are essentially guaranteed consistent results that can be repeated time and time again.

Precision machining can also have other uses. One of those uses includes finishing metal mechanical components. That

means you could finish off parts that have been produced other fabrication methods such as die casting. It could even be

used to help restore older worn down machine parts.

Over time, certain parts could need either grooving or welding, or even re-calibrating, and instead of buying a brand new

replacement part, you can use this computer programs and technical equipment to restore the parts back to their best.
