They are then able to go out visiting and researching different locations to find one that is best suitable for the director’s final vision. For this job being creative is key, as you must have a good imagination to be able to picture if a location will be fitting for different scenes as well as make sure the director will also accept it. Communication and organisation skills are also vital as it can be very difficult to gain permission to use locations and so that all the fees needed for the location are in the given budget although this is manly a managerial job as when in this role you have full power in the choosing of the location as this managed it is then simply accepted by the director. The location manager has a range of different roles after the location has been chosen which are for example making sure that there are no aspects of the location that could disturb filming for example noise as well as making sure there is access for vehicles needed bringing in equipment and making sure everything else connected to the location in organised and finally when filming is done that the location is handed back in the same condition. The key responsibility is that when choosing the location it is in the budget that is given and that it has all the aspects that are needed form the director to film as well as not having anything that could disrupt filming to a point where the crew would then be unable to film for example no access for vehicles, too much noise and many other aspects and finally making sure that no real damage is made to the location and it is handed back as it was received The main person whom the location manager works with is the director as there is constant communication making sure that they are both aware of what is wanted for the location and what is accessible with the budget available although this is only during pre production during production there are a range of different people the location manager works with as it is there job to make sure the location is safe at all times and no health and safety rules are breached.
